The latest sales data from NPD has been released, and it appears KH2 was the third best selling game of the year in the US! Here's the top 10 in full:

Top 10 Game Sales 2006

1.) Madden NFL 07 (Launched: August, PlayStation 2) - 1.8 million+
2.) New Super Mario Bros. (Launched: May, Nintendo DS) - 1.5 million+
3.) Kingdom Hearts II (Launched: March, PlayStation 2) - 1.5 million+
4.) Gears of War (Launched: November, Xbox 360) - 1 million+
5.) Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter (Launched: March, XBOX360) - 913,000+
6.) Final Fantasy XII (Launched: November, PlayStation 2) - 895,000+
7.) Grand Theft Auto: Liberty City Stories (Launched: June, PlayStation 2) - 860,000+
8.) NCAA Football 07 (Launched: July, PlayStation 2) - 849,000+

Now, I'm no expert, but Square-Enix should really pay attention to the fact that Kingdom Hearts does better in America then it does in Japan, and release KH2: FM+ here!

yeah this is a really good sign that FM+ will come out in the us, if square even decides to care about this.

Well, I'm glad for KH, but I'm a little surprised that it beat Gears of War and Final Fantasy XII.

Kingdom hearts 2 was released in March 29th. So kh2 has 8 months to earn that many copies and money. While Gears of War was released a few months ago so it didn't have that much time...neither did FF 12^^^

That is true, but look at Madden who is in 1st place, with only 3 months sold over 1.8 million copies.
