Yes they are in the same place, but no, Sora can't fuse with Auron as far as we know. The only people hes been know to fuse with are Goofy and Donald.

Does anyone actually have proof that Sora and Goofy fuse?

All we see is:

A) A bright light
B) Goofy's Status bar goes away
C) Sora changes outfits.

Nowhere in that is there an A2, that says "Sora runs head first into Goofy and fuses"

Tell me, has anyone seen this fuse? All I saw was a bright explosion of light and Sora emerges from a small clear sphere in red; no Goofy involved.

The red fusion is goofy and there is meant to be a blue one for donald in the unrealeased jump festa trailer.

All I know is that it has been announced there will be a new special move, which allows Sora to fuse with one of his teammates. Now until things like Sora changing outfits, Goofy's gauge disappearing, Sora having 2 keyblades all of a sudden, are explained in another way, I'll stick with the fusion-theory thank you very much.

And yes since Sora would 'theoretically' fuse with Goofy, it's reasonable to accept that he could also fuse with Donald, since Goofy plays no particular more important role than Donald as far as we know, and it would be irreasonable to think that he'll be given a more important role, since I can't see Goofy as a main character or anything similar.
