The deep came from Japanese people. It's a common conception in the East to separate a person like this - Soul/Spirit, Mind/Heart, Body. Kingdom Hearts even touches this issue when they say in one of the reports that when the Soul leaves the Body, the person dies.
It thus raises the concern what happens when the Heart leaves. That's how KH1's Ansem even reached the whole conclusion about Nobodies (and how people who've played FM reached the conclusion what Roxas was just from watching the Deep Dive).

Funny you should say this because as far as Kingdom Hearts is concerned, Roxas doesn't 'exist'.
He's Sora, but Sora is also Sora. Thus Roxas has no one left to be - therefore, Nobody.
If he'd beat Sora he'd be able to become Somebody, but then we're left to wonder whether he'd be Sora or Roxas at the end... which kind of beats the point.

The point is that while Nobodies aren't supposed to Exist (I think this is more of a psychological issue, and a means for various Ansems to use for silencing their consciousness when beating up helpless teenage blonde girls and boys) they aren't truly Nothing. They're the Body and Soul left behind.
In Roxas and Sora's case, Roxas is even more, possibly because of Ven - possibly unrelated to him.
And fact of the matter remains he wasn't 'destroyed'.

so the soul does hav something to do....ok so theyre the body and soul but technically if you have a soul cant you die at least that means he wasnt a nobody because h was able to have feelings which means he had a heart for example when he saw that computer in th oldmansion he got mad and destroyed it...(head ache)........... (ok thats better) so he mustve had a hearts so he wasnt a nobody he was truly somebody

That is incorrect, since Nobodies have been proved capable of feeling 'rage'. Think adrenalin rush - it's more of a physical reaction or instinct.

Actually you can. A heart is only proof of life. The proof that you're alive. If the heart dies, then you won't necessarily die. And what's this talk about a brain? If you mean the mind, then that belongs to the nobodies.

No, the mind itself is the brain. Heart is the identity. Nobodies are conscious; aware of what they are. By all technical standards, they know they should be alive, but they are and they're not. Nobodies think and act based accordingly. How else would Marluxia have come up with such a complicated plan? You're thinking of heartless that move upon impulse/instinct.

I didn't mean it in a physical manner, but how the Japanese separate a person into "components". Earlier on people separated the brain and the Heart and as far as relevance goes, the brain her none.
In a way Nobodies are sadder than Heartless because they've only one instinct - to regain their Hearts.
The reason Marluxia is so smart is because his Heart was strong enough to leave that impression on him - he was programmed to be like that, in a way, but it's not his own trait. He simply did what he remembered from being a Somebody.

The brain is the mind. Not in the literal sense, in the metaphoric sense.

That's not really an instinct, more of an objective. Even then it's not the only thing they're concentrated on. Nobodies are the body and soul.They still have to eat, sleep, and drink. It's also a basic need for survival. Heartless act upon instinct, to consume hearts. That's all they do, while nobodies exist on a separate, but different level. Nobodies' thinking is on a higher scale than that of a heartless, and it isn't fueled by instinct. Nobodies are people, without the means to prove that they exist, that's what a nobody is.

Heartlesses who retain human shape are given access to the mind, otherwise it goes to the nobody.

And you can't say Axel and Zexion are stupid. Because they've shown excellent traits as far as thinking critically goes. And Axel is a prime example of nobodies not thinking on instinct.

Of course it plays no role, but to say it's irrelevant is pointless. The mind is transferred to the nobody via heartless. Which is why other nobodies have memories; because they can recall said memories because they have the mind to do so.
