Default Conclusion.

Hi everyone,

I'm relatively new the boards, but I just feel like I need to talk about my experiences with KH2 with those who might agree or disagree with me! I can tell this to my family all I want and they won't have a clue what I'm talking about, so I thought I would bounce some things off you guys! Feel free to comment, flame, whatever you are thinking; I was just looking for a sounding board.

Albeit long winded, here goes.

I'm letdown. I'm letdown not because of the game, but because the experience is over. Any time something new comes out that I've been waiting so long for, I tend to rush through to the end just because I need to see what it's all about. In doing so, I tend to miss all the little things that make this game so much fun and challenging! Now, I'm on round two and I'm going back through to look for all the things I didn't get the first time.

One instance is synthesis! I had no clue how to synthesize anything in this game. I made a few things, but never really figured it out. Now that I know the concept I'll continue to make things until I get Ultima and we'll be done with that.

Jimini's Journal. This was really tedious. It's a lot easier now that I've taken the time to read what my abilities are and equip them at the right time and the right place. Don't get me wrong, I'm no expert, but I'm taking the time to figure it out.

I love the skip scene option in this game. It provides the ability for those of us who will play this game hundreds of times from the beginning to get through the parts that we want faster, which in the end, allows us greater playing time.

I thought that story line was a bit confusing. I didn't take the opportunity to play Chain of Memories for the reason that I didn't own the gaming console it requires. I really didn't think I would need to buy these items just to pick up where KH1 left off. I think I was wrong. I really wish I would have experienced CoM so that KH2 would flow more freely for me.

Starting additional rounds, I’ve come up with a few questions that I hope I’ll be able to answer somewhere down the line.

My overall opinion is that I think this turned out to be a great game. I can, however, see how people who were looking for an exact replica of KH1 are, and will be disappointed. I know that what I had in my head of what KH2 was going to be like wasn’t what we received. That can be positive or negative. Take it how you want to. In my opinion, KH2 did a total turn around from the original. I’m really not a huge gamer, I own KH1 and now KH2. So while I’m not really sure how other RPG’s are that are out there, it makes me wonder if KH2 (as a sequel) followed suit.

I saw a discussion earlier about the possibility of KH3, but, we just got this one. Let’s beat it to death like we did KH1, then start speculating, coming up with ideas on how to improve the game further. Personally, I would LOVE to have the series continued, but right now, I’m pretty content being excited about my further experiences of KH2.

Thanks for reading and sharing guys,
ER

Hello there and welcome to the forums! As for your issue with rushing through the game to get to the plot...well, I'm pretty much the same way. I'm also on my second round, and I intend to suck the game dry this time.

I found that the battle system and new features in this game were awesome, but I felt that there wasn't as much intensity or depth in the plotline between characters. And there wasn't really any character developement, which is a very crucial detail to RPG's (if you continue to play other RPG's, you'll quickly learn this...especially the Final Fantasy games, which are made by the same company as Kingdom Hearts).

However, KHII was a very solid game, and I enjoyed playing it. Well, that's really all that I've got to say on the matter, but I'd love to continue discussing this with you if you think of any other elements to discuss...

Well your in luck! Go here: http://video.google.com/videoplay?do...mories&pl=true

thats the full video in one file.. or you can go to YouTube to get the video broken into parts

Skies of Memories shows all of Chain of Memories only edits out all gameplay, so its just the story

Thanks Dylmurhaha!

I skipped around through YouTube, no realizing that there were 22 parts to Skies of Memories, and it just opened up more questions than I started with.

I'll have to sit down and watch all of them...but once again, thank you! That's really going to help a lot!

Tobuoi, very good way of putting my thoughts in to words!

One of the things that I love about KHI is the story line. I loved learning about the characters (both Disney and Final Fantasy). I enjoyed being a part of their journey and felt “attached” to them, for lack of better term.

I didn’t really get that feeling in KHII. I think there are a few reasons for this. Number one, it felt like the goal was to get as much background information in as possible, without focusing on the figures that belong to the background. It felt very rushed. This doesn’t work for me because the characters are a huge part of whole story. You can’t tell a great story and not have characters involved, just as you can not tell a great story about characters without knowing their background. The two are intertwined and just seemed separated to me in this game.

The other reason I think I felt this way is because of where the game may or may not be headed. It was as if the creators were focusing on two possible scenarios: End the series here or make another sequel. “If we don’t continue the story, let’s fit as much as possible in to this one so we can end it without any questions”, “If we do make another one, let’s really confuse some things so we’ll have something to sort out in the sequel”.

It just seemed very choppy to me….

Another thing I was thinking about was really just personal preference I guess. The whole reason I picked up KHI to start with, was because I knew it wouldn’t be bloody and gory and things I’m just too old to care about anymore. This is the reason that I haven’t played any other games so far, because I don’t know what they will be like. I’ve wanted to play the Final Fantasy series, but I don’t know if it’s got the components I like in a game. Ahhh, once again, I digress.

KHI was much more of a strategy, story based game, than a battle game. KHII seemed less focused on the story, and more focused on the battle. I know that a lot of gamers had requested this, and for them it’s great. I would like to have the battle AND a few mind games to get me to the end…

So, there are my thoughts for today….Have fun!

Well really I thought that they focused on the storlyine more and the battling less. There were so many cutscenes, but kind of rushed the whole thing. They could of put a little more effort to explain it a little better.
