Way to Dawn

The reason why Soul Eater turned into Way to Dawn is because when Riku was finally freed from his XH form, the keyblade transformed, why did it transformed? Well, here:

As you can see Way to Dawn has wings, we all know that wings represent liberty, freedom, peace, well, my point here is that when Riku had finally got rid of XH inside of him, he became free of him and Soul Eater transformed in Way to Dawn.

Summary:
Riku is freed from XH form and Way to Dawn is borned.

OBJECTION: Riku summoned 'Way to the Dawn' before he was freed from Ansem (SoD) grasp.

Evidence to support my claim: YouTube - 112-Kingdom Hearts 2-FMV-Riku and Ansem

I believe that Riku's weapon represents 'In between' -- Note the two wings: One's demonic whilst the other is angelic, thus he wields a blade which combines light and darkness in a way which only he can wield.

As for the transforming part, I would say that Soul Eater transformed into WTTD because Riku himself had changed. Meaning, Soul Eater changed to mirror the change of Riku's heart.

When Riku saw Kairi alongside him, he noticed that he no longer had to HIDE himself from the TRUTH of being FREED from the darkness.

Riku maintained Ansem's (SoD) appearance when he met Kairi in the vid I provided, thus symbolizing that he still belonged to the darkness. It was Namine who told Kairi the truth about Riku. He wasn't truly freed from Ansem's grasp until AtW's machine exploded infront of him ala recieved his own appearance. Even Mickey mentioned that he didn't belong to the dark realm anymore after that little incident.

More proof is that he still wielded Soul Eater in the Land of Dragons battle against him. Thus, he must have gotten WtD after Mickey told him that he wasn't a part of the darkness anymore. So, Riku's blade only changed when his heart realised what he truly was.
