Just it has benefits for us like discovering ways to rejuvenate or regenerate the body where as abortion has little effect on society other than population control.

From what I know, the cells come from aborted fetuses. If someone doesn't want the fetuses, someone else does. A life is not "wasted". It is spent in order to help those who need it.

The sacrifice of life for the greater good. They should not, however, take such things by force, but only acceptance. Perhaps they could even have designated mothers who would birth children for the sole purpose of science, no matter how inhumane that sounds. Work hard now, and profit later. To do this, and accomplish such a goal, would be momentous. Another leap for mankind. But, as that one fellow said, if they are taking eggs only, then what's the harm done? That's basically a nothing at the time, just like when you donate to a sperm bank... you're giving up something that is essentially nothing at that point in time, no matter if it has the potentiality for a future or not. The success of stem cell research is something I've personally longed for in my heart for years, without even realizing it until now. Odd how that works.

From fetuses, I have no idea why they would want to stem cells from fetuses anyway; their stem cells are virtually useless for any practical stem cell research. The only stem cells that can be useful would be from the very early point of fetal development and in the umbilical cord.

Ok, there are more that one type of stem cell. The ones that are the most useful are the ones from embryos. Some of you may be asking why, well aren't you glad I'm here? As mentioned above, there are different types of stem cells. The ones in embryos are pluripotent(or Totipotent, can't remember exactly) anyways, pluripotent stem cells are able to be changed into any type of cell, except for Totipotent cells.
Adult stem cells are only able to become certain types(as mentioned above, I'm tired, so don't ask me for specific names).
So for those who don't get it, Embryonic Stem Cells can become anything, Adult Stem Cells(correct me if I'm wrong) can become a limited amount of cells, and certain cells can only become certain types.
On another note, stem cells can be taken from aborted fetuses, however if I remember correctly(once again, if anyone knows please correct me) a group makes sure that they are using the fetuses for proper reasons. Meaning that Blackest Night is correct to say that they get stem cells from aborted fetuses, as you did not specify which type of stem cells you were referring to, or even if you were speaking of embryonic stem cells or otherwise.
Oh, stem cells can be taken from children also. It's not just adults, we all have them. Once again if I'm correct(I'm sure if I'm not certain members will correct me when they post) there are stem cells in the inner layer of your skin that aid in healing cuts.
Anyways, I'm totally for stem cell research, whether it be embryonic or non-embryonic.
