do you think that robots could ever get a soul even if it is just a mistake?

even if you don't plese try to keep an open mind cuse.... they have the upper hand.

No. Robots are completely man-made. Movies are fiction, get over them. There isn't a known way to make a soul, much less put one in a robot. Malfunctions happen, but they don't happen because of robotic "feelings."

We cannot give them a soul, but we can give them intelligence comparable to our own. If we do, let's hope the robots don't take after our human fears and intolerance. We've all seen The Terminator and The Matrix. I think you know how well that will go for man.

Who said we put them in it? it my be a mistake, a bug, or even a radom programes making them beings. the point is what make the soul is in the programing. not to say it is easy

it depends i have always beleived in ghosts so i only think a ghost could control em :p might sound insane but evry one has a opinion on this

*sigh* A bug's never going to give a computer its own emotions. You don't see a virus on a computer saying "Oh, my girlfriend left me so I'll just spam teardrops on your screen!" The closest thing to emotion on your computer that a bug could give you is "OWNED!" Which is the same label I'd put on your brain.

No, they cannot. I feel no reason to explain, since most of the people who agree already explained as to why they will never have souls.

If, somehow, free will (by quantums or some drunken angel) managed to enter the robot, then yes. However, since it is definitively impossible for any natural (by the normal taking of natural: who knows, maybe we could somehow) force to instill true free will, this could only happen the way humans get (again, if you believe in souls, if not, why are you even here?) souls.

If you're just talking about personality, all we would have to do would be to scan someone's brain waves and replicate them. Easy as pie.

I feel that perhaps one day someone may find a way to SIMULATE a soul in a robot but only to the extent that an algorithm to simulate randomness has been created: it may look like it but it will never essentially be the same.

A robot cannot have a soul, as a soul is something that can only exist in a living being. A robot could not be given a soul even through a glitch in its software because regardless of what a program tells it, the robot can do nothing more than what it is programmed to do. That seems a very finite point to me, but I want to continue. A robot is governed by the span of it's AI, or Artificial Intelligence, and as such it can be programmed to express emotions, make decisions and even show the outward signs of concern or caring but it would not actually experience any of the parts of these experiences that a living being would because it is only following the instructions of its program.

No, but a ghost in the machine, mabey. I do think that AI will get advanced enough so that robots can get a personality and moral code as a side effect of AI.
