Techincally speaking that was not contradiction it was more of an example
The first part was to show sex is for reproduction which is the main point of it as we need to do it to help keep a population.
The second half about pleasure is mainly to illistrate that unless you are one of the two you dont get pleasure from it i did not say sex is for pleasure. It was state pleasure comes from sex if you are a mammal.

I'm on cold medicine and not quite lucid, but i can think of two ways to refute that.

1. if you want to speak on that primitive level, then LOVE is also for reproductive matters. love is about bonds and trust, it's about a strong relationship, and some species have evolved to encourage this, because a strong relationship between two organisms can make for a powerful reproductive pair. it's no wonder then that sex can be one way to build trust and strengthen bonds; because love is quite beneficial to humans for reproduction.

2. humans have added new uses for sex. look at language. language is an instinct too after all (yes i do believe in pinker). a long time ago, language would have been for telling others directions to food and and warnings for predators and such. but then it became more than that. it can be used to express ourselves and our opinions, it can be used to tell fantasy stories and the like. so saying

to me is like saying
Language is for basic survival communication matters, expressing oneself has shit to do with it

The vast majority of life on this planet gets pleasure from sex, at least for the male. I know of several species for which the act of sex is painful, cats spring to mind, but for virutally all males of any species, they get pleasure out of it. Its an evolutionary adaptation really, individuals that LIKED to have sex (and watch out, cause this will blow your mind), HAD sex more often, consequently, they had more offspring, who also loved to get it on. Natural Selection favored those individuals, and consequently, pretty much everyone loves sex. EVERYONE does it for pleasure, a dog doesn't think, hey its time to settle down and pass along my genes, it thinks... nothing. It senses pheromones, walks over, mounts and does its thing. and it feels GREAT afterwards. Just ask my dog, he gets smug about it and everything... that ass.
