night terrors-for me is when you make a decision you donot want to make and become scared of yourself as who you are in your dream. i donot think you are a special case because anyone can lucid dream during sleep. this was how i first found out about it
I was never scared of myself in any dreams or night terrors, only scared of others or my surroundings. Never of myself.

I always have lucid dreams, too. I can't ever remember a dream where I couldn't think/act for myself.

Well, it's true, ANYONE can lucid dream...
But it's a lot like playing basketball.

Genetics play a role in having a born ability to play it.
And, like lucid dreaming, any average joe has the ability to shoot a half court shot into the hoop...
but what are the odds of that, .02%?
It's like any ability- playing the piano, writing, dancing, singing-
Anyone can do it- but you gotta work to get it first.

M_F, I suggest you try harder to move your surroundings. People who can LD are able to make things appear, dissapear, and change at their will.
Give it a shot, and don't say "I'll try and make my old friend who moved away come to see me", you gotta go "My old friend will be inside that house once I open the door."
x3 I love how the mind works, lol.

Woah, that sounds cool. Sounds like you need a lot of meditation to do that, like the Buddha. I wanna be able to concentrate like that, although my concentration sucks.

Yeah, meditation is an important factor to increasing your ability.
But I SUCK at meditating =P. I suppose this will be my downfall in trying to do a Lucid Dream: Focusing.

Meh. Lucid Dreaming sounds cool and all, from the way you describe it, but do you really want to go to bed and plan out your dream before hand? Doesn't that take the fun out of dreaming? It kind of ruins the whole mystical and romatic aspect of it, for me at least. Plus, haven't you ever had a dream in which you did something, and then it ended up happening in real life and you knew how to handle it because it happened in your dream? I like going to bed not knowing what I'm going to dream about, and a lot of my dreams end up being really cool. There's even this girl I eat lucnh with and all we try to do is understand/interpret our dreams.

Meh, maybe it's just me, but Lucid Dreaming just seems like it would suck the fun out of the whole spontaneity of dreaming.

no planning your dream is not the point altering your current dream or resuming it is the point

I know what you're sayin', Thes, and yeah, Dreaming can be really fun.
But ... I mean, think about it.
All magic, all powers, in your hands? A world for you to control and configure as you please?
No rules, no holding back, just allowing you and your creativity to be so in tune with each other, that no bindings of logic and stop you?

Sounds like my kind of world.

I can change things in surrounding according to my decisions, people, and where I am. I try not to do that though, to just work with whatever I'm given in the dream, ie: if I'm trying to find someone in my dream, I don't want them to appear. I want to find them. Somehow it feels like I'm cheating myself if I make it happen instead of let the dream flow while I manipulate it. I find this the best way for me.

This sounds extremely intresting. I would try this, but by the sounds of it, it isn't going to happen to me seeing as it takes genetics to do this. *sigh* It's worth a shot.
