Rep Power: 2 ![]() Level: EXP: | Apparently some doctors and scientist have gotten together and created a 168 dollar project that will teach babies to read from as young as 7 months. they say that it will make them love reading, and (obviously), increase their brain power. so what do you think, should parents be able to teach these young unknowing, innocent children to read. i say that we should let them enjoy their time as a baby. what do you think ?. |

| ⎳ΣGΣNDΛRΨ | It obviously depends on how they go about to solve this. And of course it depends on the baby/person in question. Some people are naturally dumb. Care to find a link? |

| Pleasantly evil | Can you really "teach" though at that age, more than just kind of subconsciously implanting knowledge of words and such? |

| ⎳ΣGΣNDΛRΨ | Kids at that age are in the process of wiring their brains to start learning, I doubt they'd be able to do the actual learning that early. |

Rep Power: 1 ![]() Level: EXP: | Implanting knowledge into people subconscious is just another form of teaching i guess. Its just a different form of learning. |

| ⎳ΣGΣNDΛRΨ | Except their brain still has to be capable of it. They aren't even up to understanding a mind like the adult one, which has already done its wiring, while the baby brain does all its wiring all the time. It would change constantly, and make the process difficult if not impossible. |

Rep Power: 5 ![]() ![]() Level: 35 EXP: | I think that's just pure stupid. Reasons: 1) Let the kids be themselves. If they want to like reading when they are older should be up to them. 2) That's too young to even start teaching kids to read, in my oppinion. I'd say you should start at least at 10-11 months but just to firmilarize the kid with the written words. 3) At 5 they start AR in kidnergarden so that gets them to love reading at times. 4) Kids get brain power from the point you start teaching them to the day they kill over and die. |

Also yeah, that's the problem with computers and AI. They understand how to spell a word and organise a sentence based on certain syntax rules, but they can't for the life of them understand what they've typed.

I probably started learning when I wanted...I was 10 months, my mom said anyway, when I walked on my own. That's the normal age to start wanting to learn. 7 months is just firimilarizing yourself with the objects around you. I should know. I was 7 when my brother was born so I have a more vivid memory of him when he was younger then people who have kids 9 months to 3 years apart.

Rep Power: 5 ![]() ![]() Level: 35 EXP: | Yes. It can be yours because of late development because you don't want to learn when you need to or your parents because they don't want to teach. There are cases where they can not learn at all though but that's a 1/3 shot because the other 2/3s are either lazy people or people that actually choose to learn when they need to start. Edit: No George Bush was a retard.. |

| ⎳ΣGΣNDΛRΨ | I think I can safely say that being stupid is not a choice, there are other factors that shape how intelligent you are, and I'm not talking about just school and who you hang out with. |
