Basically, some Canadian got arrested over possession of child porn literature...Not sure about lit, but the US's got a zero tolerance thing for non-real child porn as well:

Any views on what the tolerance level of possession/distribution should be?

I'd be fine with it, mainly due to this type of porn being victimless and that a book shouldn't be controlling your actions if your old enough to be buying porn in the first place.

(Though Japan could benefit from something like this)

Some people enjoy fantasizing about child sex...though they wouldn't actually go through with it. If they can enjoy themselves without unnecessarily affecting anyone else, I'd be fine with it. I mean, there's more glory to be found in teaching people not to carry out their delusions.

Even if there are those who won't act on them, good luck convincing everyone else to legalize that sort of literature especially in the USA.

Why, does Japan have a higher incidence of child sexual abuse than countries with strict laws against fictional underage pornography?

I'm asking because I don't actually know, but think that that point should be the most relevant. What's ultimately important is protecting the safety of real people. If a link can be proven between greater accessibility to fictional underage pornography and child abuse, obviously I'd support a law restricting it. But other than that, fictional pornography doesn't harm people in and of itself, unlike real pornography that involves real people.

The same could be said about anything that causes conflict or misbehavior, or even just seems to. The fact of the matter is that with that kind of thinking we would still be listening to Gospel. And no one wants that.
