Rep Power: 19 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Level: 41 EXP: | Death is great. The last thing we need is a selfish desire among all humans to live forever, and for that desire to be granted. We'd run out of room, and there would be no change in the world. |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() Level: EXP: | Actually, I think that with the Ops quote of how humans will get immortality we won't need to worry about overpopulating the world. Rather, what we'd really do is overpopulate to the point where we'd kill and destroy all of earth's natural resources. By that we'd need to find a new planet to live on, which means space technology would have to b accelerating a quite a rate to meet the demand. We would be eradicating the human race without anyone actually dieing. Which would be great for anyone who doesn't want to give up life yet or somthing, but bad in the sense of religion. It could really cause religious riots and outbreaks if someone actually tries to go through with this. |

| For the deeds of today resonate.... | You know, I was reading along and I was thinking, okay, sounds far-fetched but not all too bad... till we got to the end about becoming human cyborgs and virtual sex. I'm not too happy about the idea of immortality to begin with. I don't want to write a book within minutes, and I don't want to live forever, especially if my family lives along with me (I have to deal with them enough for the next 80 years, why would I want to do it for eternity?). I think scientists just need to get through to the fact that just because something is possible, doesn't mean that it should be done. There's a point at which unnecessary improvements simply need to be said no to. Who would want to live forever? I can see that as being incredibly boring, especially if we eventually get to the point where we live our lives inside our heads. |

Rep Power: 6 ![]() Level: 11 EXP: | Just because you can replace organs doesnt change the fact that there are WEAPONS OF ALL KINDS. And plus, if there was immortality, then the world would be overpopulated and then we would eventually run out of resources right? |

Rep Power: 6 ![]() Level: 26 EXP: | I don't think it'd be a good because what's the point of living but not dying? I think if you die, there's a signifigance. I think if you live for a long time, that signifigance is lost. When I say signifigance, I mean in a milestone. Most of the time I still question what are the benefits of immortality. I mean I can see the cons such as being tired of living for a longtime without closure to life although can somebody enlighten me if they know the benefits of immortality aside from seeing what the future becomes or its great? |

New technology + New places to grow resources + More durable bodies = Progress Though that's just a possible scenario, there's still the chance of us fucking ourselves. :/ As for the concept, I find it sort of far-fetched...Yeah, I can see technology reaching that point, but not in 20 years, or at least it might not be the best idea by then. Just imagine the economy and medical field being thrown into utter chaos... | |

Rep Power: 3 ![]() Level: EXP: | As cool as it all sounds, it seems like people would eventually become more stoic through such means. This is the type of stuff that people would use when they stop caring for their bodies, but don't want to suffer the consequences. We're meant to die at some point in our lives. The only reason I would get nanobots in my body would be to simply increase my lifespan for several more years because I want to see what comes to pass on this planet. |
