Default Organ Donation
I don't think there's been a thread, but I feel that this is a very interesting topic, so I'd like to discuss it. It's my understanding that, for all different reasons, some people are willing/unwilling to donate their organs once they pass away. It could be because of religious beliefs, or for personal reasons. My question is, if possible, will YOU donate your organs when you die? Are there specific organs you won't want taken? If you don't want to, what are your reasons?
Personally, I think it's greedy to keep your organs to yourself if it can save someone's life. I plan on being cremated, so I won't need them anyway, but I don't see why people (outside religious belief) would keep their organs.

Yes, but I can't because I'm on antibiotics 24/7 not to mention my lungs, liver and digestive system are already fucked. However they can all go to cystic fibrosis research.

I'm with you Trag. I personally won't have the slightest problem donating my organs to someone in need once I'm gone. If it can help someone live, it's definitely worth it.

And as Gavin said, they can have whatever they need to take, since I'd be gone anyway

Yeah statistics in Australia show a lot of people go without one due to a lot of people's families fighting to keep the organs, I'm like what the hell mang? I'll up for a double lung transplant in a year or two, would hate to miss out just because someone didn't want to part a set of lungs. :/

I plan to donate my body for the good of humanity upon my death. Anything not used can be burned.

Full body burial wastes space (among other things) and is extremely creepy, in my opinion.

Exactly my thoughts. I would give up all my (internal) organs to someone who could really use them to stay alive. Keeping them is just a waste. But I would keep things like my skin and eyes, which by the way can be donated. I'd still like to look normal when I'm dead XD
