Rep Power: 4 ![]() Level: EXP: | As far as I know, the universe is a gigantic mass. On its edges are dark energy, which is supposedly what stretches it further. I assume if you tried to come in contact with the edges, you'd be destroyed, regardless of protection. This is only what I've gathered, don't take my word for it. But the "beginning" according to the Big Bang theory (I think) is the center (assuming the universe was evenly stretched, which it probably isn't), and the "end" is the edges, the newly created space. |

| ⎳ΣGΣNDΛRΨ | Fuck yes cosmological discussion. Unfortunately, there's nothing much I can offer to the original topic because not even the experts are quite certain. Dark Energy, if it exists, is everywhere, not just at the edges. And because Dark Energy pervades most if not all of space, it wouldn't destroy you. Maybe you're confused with Anti-Matter on that destructive part? |

| ⎳ΣGΣNDΛRΨ | Dark Energy is the force that stretches the universe. But if it was at the edges, it would just push those along and nothing else. Dark Energy is all throughout the universe, which is what is send galaxies outwards. |

| Militaires Sans Frontieres | I've always thought of the universe being kind of a like a planet. There is no end of the world, it just goes on but it isn't infinitive. Meaning that if you go on at a starting point and you continue walking in one direction, you would eventually go back to your starting point without meeting an actual end. But I do sometimes wonder about it more deeply than I feel I should. I even sometimes have this image in my head of touching the end of the universe as if it was wall. That's some other crazy stuff though. |

universe is just one of a collection of others, and anything outside of that is impossible to cross. Thinking of it as a round planet has precisely been a part of my thoughts as well. Just like a planet, you could walk straight and eventually return to the point in which you started at, that is if you could jump mountains and walk on water, but i'm pretty sure it's obvious what i'm saying. with sun's as big as the VY Canis Majoris, simply thinking of how big the universe is could be....mind boggling | |

| ⎳ΣGΣNDΛRΨ | Bubble universes is a fun concept at its heart, but also currently close-to-impossible to prove or disprove, along with things that might happen should they collide (if they are able to). |

Rep Power: 3 ![]() Level: 10 EXP: | I don't think it should have to end, it might seem abstract but that doesn't mean it's not true. One thing is for sure, it's so damn big, we might never know. |
