Default Regarding Obama's Presidency
The reason Obama is president is because white people aren't racist anymore, but black people still are.

Big argument the other day in school about this. I don't think this is true, but it was quite a discussion.

all the hicks in my school use his race as the prime factor in their "obama sucks" arguments, and it's REALLY fucking annoying.

Don't over analyze it. Obama is president because a majority of American voters decided that he was the best man for the job. Race really was not a factor in his election.

McCain was no match for Obama either. Palin was just the last major error by the Republicans.

Like stated, Obama was elected because of his message. He's very intellectual, is a lot more social on many fronts, has a good understanding of the economy and wants to invest in relations with other countries. Not go to war with them and see America as THE superior nation.

All the mistakes Bush made, Obama is the exact opposite.

And I can see the results already. Cuba relations, Chavez, Europe, even Iran! All countries seek good relations with America, mainly because of the message that Obama is spreading.

You should be proud.

While I believe he was the best man for the job personally, I think race did play a factor in his election. A lot of people who didn't understand his policies or goals would have voted for him purely because of the hype surrounding a landmark event such as the election of America's first black president. Had he been white, he probably still would have won, but the polls may have been more evenly spread.

As to white people no longer being racist... that's bullshit. There's plenty of racists. On both sides. The problem is that those on the anti-white side are deemed the victims due to events in the past rather then current events, so their racism is largely ignored while anti-black racism is sensationalized.

That, and anti-white racism is far less visible due to there being no symbology associated with it. You see a white guy with tattoo of swatstickas and eagles and it's instantly apparent that he's a racist, yet no equivilent for that exists on the other side of the coin.

Instead of looking at one side why don't you take down racism on both sides. Racists exists in all races and it needs to be stopped as a whole. There are still racist whites just like they have racists blacks. The only thing that will happen if we follow your schools logic is that we will repeat the events of the past but in a reversed position.

That is an ignorant statement, its simply wrong when it is abused, which it has an extremly high tendency of doing, like in Stalin and Mao's case. Socialism, in my opinion is certainly flawed, but in no way should be considered "wrong". Besides that Obama isnt even Socialist, he may have some socialst ideals, like universal healthcare, but is that a bad thing? Its not like hes banning profit and setting up a government agency to run the economy.
