Default Thoughts on the Mexican Drug war?

Anyone hear about the Mexican Drug War? I don't have concrete details but I did hear it a lot on CNN and quite frankly it kind of disturbs me that there is a drug war going on in my own backyard (figuratively).

So this is larger than the cartel skirmishes?

I've only heard about civilian casualities in the past.

I personally find the cartel, guerrilla, drug/weapon-trafficking and mafias of South America like Venezuela, Colombia, etc. a much more frightening problem.

SPY

I agree that the SAmerican cartels are much larger, but Mexico is the neighbor that got fucked up by the US and is now doing the same.

Well there has been some, recently the Mexican government put some real hurt on the second largest drug cartel in Mexico. But there still is quite a bit of border violence, some of these drug cartels have the weapons and man power of small armys backing them it is pretty intense.

And lucky me I'm going on a mission trip this June to Sinoloa lets hope I dont get shot or anything pleasent like that

Things are calming down in Colombia but Mexico seems to be becoming a sh*thole, I really don't care since I don't live near the border.

By the way, most of these Mexican drug cartels are aided by members of the Mexican military

One of the biggest arguments against legalizing marijuana is that when Americans spend money on it, they are directly funding the drug war.

So i wouldn't mind at all if USA intervened and put a stop to the violence.

It's better to have Mary Jane legalized so that we can actually regulate it as a legal business venture and tax it!

No direct military intervention, we have enough hatred by Latin America for our 'imperialist' policy

They're doing the same thing they were doing to business associated with alcohol during the Prohibition Era.

Drugs are legal in the United States, we have nicotine in cigarettes and alcoholic beverages.

I want some Mary Jane to be legal so we can TAX and REGULATE it.
