| Sir Jecht's Judge Magister Gabranth | What are your thoughts on the phrase "Only the good die young"? I find it to be an only too true statement. Currently I'm going through one of my friend's very close to death, and it's absolutely driving me insane because, no matter how I think of him, he was never a bad man at all. Never. So anyway, discuss. gogogogogo |

| i haet men | A coincidence. Good and bad has no effect on who dies young and who dies later. Who, really, is a bad person, if not just a product of factors? This ties into Hidden's thread. |

| The Random Rabbit | I agree with Ragione, but as well it depends on your definition of the word young, how young is young, do you mean in age or in spirit, because everyone is young at heart. |

Rep Power: 11 ![]() Level: 46 EXP: | Like stated, good and bad has nothing to do with it. There are many good people around that are old or will become old. Look around you, there are a lot of good people on this forum for example. So yeah, I dont agree with the phrase. But its always a sad and painful thing when someone close to you dies, especially when he/she only represents good in your eyes. |

Rep Power: 3 ![]() Level: 9 EXP: | My brother once said to me, "You have to be nice to have friends but you have to be a total bitch just to live in life." I didn't understand what he meant when he said that, considering that we were talking about an actor who was a prick in rl. But I think there's a meaning to that popular phrase: IMO, that because if you only do good but don't balance that out with committing evil deeds, minor or not, then of course that item would cease to exist if they don't neutralize the two sides. |

Sometimes when people are faced with such challenges, you see a different side to them. Like the young lady that died of a skin cancer last year.. When she discovered she had the cancer, she longed to help others and warn them of the dangers caused by the sun and of those tanning machines- because she didn't want what she was going through to happen to anyone else. She seemed to have a good future going for herself too.. So does this make her a good person? You see a person that is longing to be happy, and one that wants to spend the rest of their short life doing things they wanted to do when they became older. This is sad, but who are we to judge? Sorry to hear about your friend too, hope your okay...

Rep Power: 3 ![]() Level: 10 EXP: | Everybody could die any moment, for what cause or reason. If he's got a disease or an accident, it was just an unlucky combination of factors. He could've died at a high age if he received a cure that worked, or took another route. It's in the small things, but they can have huge consequences. |

| Sir Jecht's Judge Magister Gabranth | I really should have re worded that. I mean, as it seems to me, the people we know as good seem to die short of an average age, whereas the people who have commited crimes etc. seem to go on for goodness knows how long. I do believe it is down to chance, fate, whatever you may call it, but as said above, it does seem the better people die earlier |

I use that phrase to describe alot of people, even fictional characters. The Fourth Hokage and Zack Fair come to mind.

| ⎳ΣGΣNDΛRΨ | It didn't say anything about bad people dying, young or old, or at all, so actually it isn't outright false. Also, that's opinion, so boolean logic can't be applied to it. Opinions are neither wrong, right, true or false, except when people want to strictly state something that is outright untrue, or a well known fact. Last edited by ∞; March 1st, 2009 at 10:35 AM. |
