Rep Power: 0 ![]() Level: EXP: | So yeah it seems in society that everyone cringes when someone cusses. That it's rude talk. But why? Isn't it just another english word just like any other that we use in everyday life? Isn't it just a form of expression to show how much we really feel about something? I hear people say that God didn't intend for us to swear, but how would you know that? Have you actually spoken to God, no. And we've already done so many things that God didn't intend that it wouldn't make a difference. Seriously I just don't see why cussing is so limited and restricted, it's in our daily lives everyday. Even if you can't speak it, you're going to hear it. If saying bitch is not good manners, calling someone stupid or ignorant would be just as bad. It's only expressing yourself to a higher degree. Discuss. |

| Kissing the skies. | I have no Fucking idea where you heard god hates swearing. He must have least dropped an f-bomb at a few points in human history. |

Rep Power: 5 ![]() Level: 10 EXP: | I would think it has to do with the strength and connotation of the words. It would demonstrate how much emotion you're expression to say Quote:

| the dank | Fuck the term 'curse' words. Words are words, it all boils down to context, and I'm sure that it doesn't have to be a so called 'curse' word to offend someone. Doesn't make sense to me why people feel that they need to banish words from our daily vocabulary, like they've never said them. |

Rep Power: 4 ![]() ![]() Currently playing: Uncharted 2 Level: 19 EXP: | I think humans are weird for inventing swearing and other things like "the rude finger". When you are "swearing" you are just saying a word that humans decided to make offensive. Same thing with "the rude finger". |

Rep Power: 5 ![]() Level: 10 EXP: | That's exactly right. It's only offensive because we choose to be offended by it |

| Militaires Sans Frontieres | I guess it really depends on how you use it or what you mean when saying it. They really are just words, but just like the middle finger, it is just bad. I dunno really, I do cuss at times but not very often. |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() Level: EXP: | Well the fact is it depends on the society and the culture. In japanese culture for instance even little children can "swear" and it doesn't really matter, but in america it's just not considered "appropriate" becuase it doesn't fit certain standards that were developed and set long before our modern thinking. Quote:
Also not everyone has used a certain word before. I have happily never used the N word, but I will use the F word on depending occasion, I don't like the S word simply because it sounds stupid as well as useless, so don 't use it either, though I admit I have said it before. | |

Rep Power: 0 ![]() Level: EXP: | Good to see that everyone agrees. Oh and Dr.Freeman I wasn't saying I found it rude, I mean others found it rude. Ok yes words have meaning, but why would someone give them such a power to be restricted in our society? Well not neccesarily restricted but wannaed against. Noone likes these words but their just the same as insults we use but to higher degrees. Yes we could warrant to not be so vulgar with them, but there should be nothing saying that we have no right to cuss or to watch our tongues. It's our fucking language. ^^ |

| I don't like you. | I agree with this 100%. When I was small my dad would hit me because I cursed occasionally, and I always asked 'why?'. Like what TToD said, it is just insults at higher degrees, so why not say them? It`s just a word after all. |

| none of our secrets are physical | For the most part I agree, I think swearing is necessary for emphasis, and shouldn't be viewed as a bad thing. But I think that when we do swear, we need it to be a 'bad/offensive word', otherwise it will not have the same impact. Comparing "oh no" and "fuck", it's obvious that shouting "FUCK" is inappropriate, because it has the explicit sexual connotations that "OH NO" does not have, and sex is still a taboo, and no one sane would just shout out "SEX" randomly. It's the impropriety that allows us to express ourselves to a higher degree. In that sense, we are being very intentionally rude. |

| Sidekick | i think that although its over-used and is quite offensive, its better to display our emotions with a simple word than taking it out on someone/something physically |
