Can anyone say Viera? this is the next step in science, man will eventually genetically alter himself to become what he believes is perfect. No matter how morally wrong it is people will end up doing it. Thats just how it is.

There are things some people shouldn't mess with. Whether this is a religious matter or not, we shouldn't temper or change our own natural design.

I agree with you, Nicrixshant. Nothing good can come from this. They will probably create something that will become smarter than humans and take over the world.

Even if it does happen, none of this will be open to the public eye for a very long time. What we see is probably jsut the tip of the iceberg.

Mice w/ human brains?
I think that they're trying to create Stuart Little....
Anyway, I think that we are overstepping some boundaries with that kind of research. But considering that the article was written in January of '05, they have probably advanced research in that field quite a bit.

That's probably what some people would've said about surgery. "Don't mess with God's will". If there's a line you people don't think we should cross, by all means, tell me where the line is, but don't throw in vague comments about going "too far", since some might say we're well past that point.

You got any basis from that? The article itself says that pigs with humans organs can give transplants to other people.

Just another example of people wasting time on creating things and ways to do things that we just dont need.
Everyone who is working on that should be working on things like curing cancer, solving the hunger crisis or just plain helping people in any way they can.
Seriously animal human hybrids?
SERIOUSLY?!

Uh, you realize that the people working on this have not studied how to, say, cure cancer, right?

"Science" is not a person; it cannot direct its energies towards one problem or another. Some scientists are better prepared and more interested in one area, some in another, and they help in whatever ways they see fit. The same way we each work in what is interesting to us, these men are working in what is interesting to them.

Finally, to every one of you, if you are personally not curing cancer, or vying for world peace, or attempting to cure Alzheimer's, then you really have no place to criticize, as these scientists are doing far more than any one of us.

Either way what a waste to have a degree in this certain field. Maybe someday we will need to have human/animal hybrids but i think that should be after we solve the problems facing us today.

lol A degree in that field is about as useless as a doctorate in psychology or being a high school counselor.
