Racism - Why does it seem that only whites can be racist?

No shit? Naturally the people that such laws favor are not going to oppose it. Who in their right mind would refuse that kind of advantage? Is Affirmative Action somehow okay to have in place just because the white man opposes it? I really don't care which group it supports, because the real problem is that it is supporting groups based entirely upon sex and/or skin color (read: discrimination).

As I said, you notice these things becaise you look for them. Try looking for reverse discrimination, and you'll find a LOT more.

And saying Affirmative Action isn't an advantate is downright wrong. Racial quotas are given to black guys all the time.

yeah, affirmative action is trouble. Why should I have to hire because of race or gender? that stuff is mostly irrelevant. Hiring should be done by who is qualified.

if there are more numerous amounts of qualified white people searching for a job at my company then qualified black people ( let alone all the unqualified people from everywhere) then chances are there are going to be a few more white people then black people. Its not racism, and i certainly don't have to hire equal parts.


the whole idea that a system like this exists is ridiculous. affrimative action is not equality at all.

First of all, it is an advantage to minorities and women. Affirmative Action forces businesses to hire employees based entirely upon their race or sex. That's discrimination if I've ever seen it. It's discrimination against white males. Oh sorry, I forgot it's okay to discriminate white guys, because they all owe minorities everything because a long time ago white men owned slaves.

Unfortunately, I have grown up with a racist mother, who had been raised by racist parents. It's not completely her fault, she had been living with her own racist parents. Anyway, the point is that I apparently can't make any complaints about other races, while my mom can make snide remarks about black people and make it seem non-racist.

It's like this: Your parents tell you that you shouldn't be racist, and yet as the hypocrites they are, they can apparently be as racist as much as they want. Especially if they are white. I mean, where do they get off saying that "all people are equal" and then turn the other way and say "-insert some form of racism here-"

This is why I hate how my mom acts whenever I make friends with people of different ethnicitys than me...like this friend of mine who is black. I had a crush on him when I was younger (Hey, who cares about color of skin? Love is love) and when I told my mom, she said that in a case scenario where I had the choice of marrying either a sophisticated hard working black male or a crack dealing chain smoking homeless white man, she would rather have me marry the crackhead.

Gah...it's bad when people your own age are racist, but it's even worse when your parents or other people related to you are racist...

So I'm guessing you don't know much about Martin Luther King Jr.? He went to jail, had a great education, and look how he turned out. Malcolm X was an ex-gangster. He went to jail, educated himself, and became a well-known figure in combating racism. I just think that we shouldn't let the hard work of these men go to waste, so we should try to reduce racism as a whole, not just racism against whites, or racism against blacks, etc.

many big businesses do. bussinesses get government rewards for having a set amount of disabled, female, and minority workers. Colleges do the same thing, because they get money for it.
