Just a random tidbit I would like to add...in my dreams, I always dream I am either falling from a building or from a great height, like a messed up skating trick, i actually feel it...and right when I hit the ground I wake up. Is this normal? I feel like I know what it is like now...without the dying. xD

Of course it's normal. It isn't real, is it? =P

A lot of my dreams have involved death. Like this one where I was in an arena full of people and the only objective was to shoot each other down with pistols. I won the first round, but when the second round came along, everyone glared at me. I knew I was the target, so I ran. Bullets flew everywhere. Then, one hit me in the stomach. Let me tell you, it was the weirdest sensation I have ever felt. Every breath I took was painful.

There was another "death dream," where I was dueling with someone. We each had a sword. I got my sword knocked out of my hand and then immediately stabbed in the chest. Sword stuck in my chest, I knelt, and I fell.

It's weird...
Usually when I dream about death, I'm always like, on a mission to stop it, you know?
When the Nazi's were tossing water balloons into the sun to destroy it and destroy Earth, it was my mission to stop the machine and save the world.
When the Flames of Disaster (aren't I original =P?) was swallowing people up, my brother and I would grab people's hands and lead them back to Earth...

I dunno, but I do know that I'm always, ALWAYS on a mission in a dream. And it's always a life or death situation =P

I think it'd be AWESOME to be concious during it, cuz I love the adrenline rush of it all...and I miss out on it when all I'm doing is remembering it.

Anyway...4th night, no lucid. I'm mastering the MILD tech, but WIlD just seems a little out there.

Here's a link to a website I've found extremely useful in trying to gain lucidity:
http://www.dreamviews.com/induction.php
Look at the forum as well, it's pretty awesome.

I'm fascninated at the interest level here. It's very cool!

Muffinman: I've read that there are NO disadvantages to Lucid Dreaming, from several sites. The only possible flaw is addiction- but that's only possible if your life sucks so much and you begin to Lucid as a way to escape your pain...

So on a darker side, Lucid Dreaming can be a drug...

If anyone has lucid questions, ask me ^_^, I've devoured tons of info on this and am able to help you out in induction techinques...

Sometimes I have dreams where everything is melting or everything is sinking into the ground. When I have a falling dream, I usually wake up to find that I've fallen out of my bed xDD. My dieing dreams usually vary, sometimes it's during a fight and in others I either die, trying to stop something or I'll die really randomly. Like once I dreamed that I was crushed by a falling piano while talking to one of my friends at school. Although my dreams are usually more pleasant than that.

Some people haven't been able to wake up during a lucid dream, and when they do, they couldn't move. I'm not sure if that's just their own mental disability or that it goes for everyone. I don't really mind. Personally, I think it's harmless.
Your mind is your brain, if you're forcing yourself into awareness/consciousness during sleep, then your brain would be as active as it would whilst awake, so essentially you'd be losing 2 hours or more of sleep every time you did this Lucid Dreaming

And Engulfed, I doubt that if there were any loss of sleep that could lead to sleep deprivation from attempting Lucid Dreaming for long periods of time, that the website would advertise it. I mean, you wouldn't go on a cult website and see a warning that says 'Hey, this cult is wrong, but join anyway! =DD', they don't want to turn people away from them

I know exactly what you mean,
and, I'm sure going through life skeptical and stuff is the safest route to take.

And I'll admit, whilst training for Lucidity, you WILL loose 2 hours of sleep, it's obvious- waking up at 4 AM to jot down dreams and prepare for LD Trials does take it outta you.

But the site does advise you to take loong sleeps. They recommend 8-10 hours.
I, personally, sleep from 6-7 hours every night =P, so it's probably affecting me.

Besides, just cuz you loose sleep doesn't mean it's WRONG.
Hell, the internet deprives you of sleep x3
Same with video games, books, writing, sex, movies, homework, exercizing, playing-
the list goes on and on =P

OK- I'm on the Pacific Side of the Universe so it's almost time for me to sleep!
I dunno about where you live, but I'm sure night is rolling around for you guys as well-
Tomorrow, put your dreams on the "Dream Journal" sticky page! I love reading them =D!

Apologies for the double post.

I GOT LUCID LAST NIGHT!!
After 4 trials, I finally achievied Lucidity in my dreams.

I was at church, and my ex-youth director told me I had to comfort my friend Alicia.
I do so.
I go back, and again- he tells me to comfort Alicia.
Again, I do so.
The third time I go back, he tells me one more time.
Right when he said this, the pieces of the puzzle fell into place.
First I thought "Wait, he doesn't work here anymore..."
then I grinned and realized that this was a dream.
"No, I don't want to." I replied, wavering him off.
The man smiles back at me, and says "You suck."

I think he said this because he knew I had become Lucid and was proud of me, or something. I guess, he was trying to test me with his repititious demands, and I pulled through ^_^

When I realized I was lucid, I made sure to keep myself calm.
"What should I do now?" I asked myself.
For some reason, I looked down at my hands, and had a thought.
"I know! I'll shoot fireballs out of my fingertips!!"
So I looked across the room and an old, bald man was looking at me. I suppose my mind programmed him into the dream as a "target" for my fire.

And here's the funny part-
Inspired by Kingdom Hearts, I shout; "FIRE!", in a very Haley Joel Osment kind of way =P.
Suddenly, the fireballs shoot out of my fingers, and hit the guy. I do this for about 4 seconds, just revelling in my newly found powers.

Using "fire" in Kingdom Hearts was my ultamite favorite magic attack xD, and it's so awesome that I was able to do it myself!

Sadly, my lucidity only lasted around 20, 30 seconds.
I believe my excitement got my brain waves too active, and woke myself up.
=P
So now I know I can do it, all I have to do is HARNESS this ability!

Typical REM-state sleep can take place anywhere up to 2 hours of your total sleep, so if you're forcing REM-state sleep for this Lucid Dream training, or trying to achieve a higher state of awareness while sleeping for it, then essentially you're losing 2 hours of sleep every time you do so. Maybe moreso, since the whole point is to avoid going into the deepest state of sleep where the most resting and unconsciousness takes place

Now I don't claim to be an expert on this Lucid Dream stuff, but I do have a slight knowledge of how sleeping works (Have a mild sleep disorder myself and having been to a Sleep Clinic for diagnostic purposes), but I get the gist of it and in all honestly I doubt it is entirely healthy to be doing for a prolonged period of time
That's not what i learned. In Lucid Dreaming, you have to wait until your dream state occurs. You don't force it to happen or anything.

Say your shopping in walmart with a fairy. You realize fairies don't exist and realize it's a dream. You can mess around with the dream until REM stage is over. Than the dream ends and you go into deeper sleep. You're waiting really, not forcing.

8-10 hours is NOT long sleep. It's the recommended NORMAL amount of sleep for preteens-adults. If you get less/more than that, it's unhealthy =/

You know, I wouldn't devote my life to sleeping. I wouldn't spend my precious hours trying to find out how to tweak and perfect conciousity and the way the mind works during sleep. Sleep is there. It works. I'm not wasting my time messing with it, nor doing something unnatural like having my brain activity at above-normal during sleep, considering sleep is meant to be REST for your body.

I always sleep 6-7 hours a night. More often than not, 6 hours,
and I'm healthy. Got a physical a few weeks back, I'm healthy.
I personally despise sleeping.
Though I love dreaming.

6-7 hours is the healthy amount of daily sleep for elderly and aged people. Around 60+ years of age. The younger you are, the more sleep you require.

I don't recall doctors asking you on a physical how long you sleep. They just ask you if you feel ok, touch your balls, and let you go =/

Nah, it was a Sports(or something like that) Physical. Those are like, an hour long =P. We did a buncha tests an' stuff.
Besides, it doesn't matter if they asked me if I was sleeping enough-
After all the tests, they told me I was in fine shape.
Xcept that I got scoliosis, or whatever it's called.

Anyway, I think it just depends on the character. Some need more than others, <shrug>

lucky, well i started last night and i got nothing, i went to sleep at nine but woke up at 2:30 i dont even think i dreamt, whatever, i can allways try again *sigh*

but i wonder if theres a way to keep yourself asleep untill you want to wake up, i know it sounds bad but a self-induced coma, where you could dream lucid for as long as you want, where nothing can wake you up but yourself
