Dude, GTX, that's a cool story.
Some people have dreams and they affect how we would act in a situation subconciously, based on the dream.
Maybe this is your way of showing yourself that you would in fact jump for the bullet in front of your dad.

I once read about lucid dreaming. A really fascinating topic.

It actually happened to me once. I told my family/brother that I was going to do it. So I did:

I was in a "winter wonderland". Or so you would call it. Everything was made of ice. Yes, in fact, the ground was ice, so it was quite hard not to slip while walking. Our family had parked our car into the parking lot of some specific building place. I didn't know why I was there. All I knew was that I had to be the first inside the building. Everything was really bright and see-through. Also, there were no doors, just corridors that ended along another corridor, which ran along to another, and so on.
So there I was, walking along the icy corridor inside the snow-building. Yeah, the building's interior seemed more like snow than ice. But the floors were definitely ice. I slipped along, gazing around me in awe. I don't know how long I was exploring until I heard a screech or some kind of sound that got my attention. Quickly, I followed the sound until I reached what seemed like a snow wall. The wall was not closed up, but it seemed to be "sealing itself" up, as if magic. As I peered inside the hole while it was sealing up, I caught sight of something. It was my brother. Desperately he yelled, "You've got to get out of here! They'll get you too, they'll-" It was too late. The snow "crack" had sealed up entirely. So much for that.
Well, now I started to panic. I ran, oh I ran, urgently trying to find an exit. It seemed as if I didn't care about anything else but getting out of there. Here's where the cool part comes in. I almost at the end of the corridor when I saw someone walking very slowly down the corridor that comes along the one I was about to exit. I didn't see much of this "thing", I only knew it was slim and "powerful". I knew it was after me. I look to my left and see stairs leading up to what I think is the exit. Instantly, I start scrambling up the stairs. That did no good. I couldn't even get up the first step. It was solid ice. Panic hit me. The "thing" was getting nearer and nearer by the second. I had to do something before it reached me. All of a sudden, however, something clicked inside of me. As from then on, I knew it was a dream. "It's a dream..." I whispered silently to myself. It felt like I was in control now.
I thought to myself, ground! Stop being so slippery!, and it did. I could walk now without slipping, as if I was walking on solid ground. I was loving every second of it. As for the monster thing. I looked at it and shouted, "STOP!"
It stopped.
"Go backwards NOW!"
The thing, believe it or not, was now walking backwards the way it came.

That's my dream. Hoped you like it. I don't remember the rest, but I can imagine myself walking up those steps proudly, knowing I had "overcome" my dream.

Oh- and what you said reminding me of something-
dreamsigns.

Dreamsigns are signs in our dreams that are always re-occuring. Things you often see in your dreams.
Once you get a list of your dreamsigns, you can tell yourself "When I am dreaming, and I recognize these dreamsigns, I will know that I am dreaming."

So what are your dreamsigns?
I know that my main one is Armageddon. I am ALWAYS dreaming about some epic destruction of the world.
Two nights ago I dreamt that flames had engulfed the planet, and that my brother and I had to save people from drowning into the flames. In memory, it was actually pretty cool. But I do remember we were encircled, the 52 of us, and we were chosen to repopulate the earth =P.

Yes! Now I remember. I've had at least 3-4 dreams where I'm walking along the same dusty, old road in some distant country side. It's really cool. It's kind of like "episodes" in the same place but at different times. Whenever I revisit that country place in my dream, it's like re-living old memories.

And that's awesome that you're gonna try it too, HoF! G'luck. It isn't easy, though. But I've just started, I dunno how long this will take >_>

Anyway, dreamsigns are important. You gotta make habit of looking for your dreamsign in real life- even if it's crazy.
Cuz soon, you'll be so aware of your dreamsign, that you'll be aware of it while you're dreaming, thus you'll snap out of your hypnotic self and break through!

I've had the same dreamsign for my entire life, or at least as far as I can remember. Armageddon.

So everyone! Get out that notebook and start jotting down your dreams and dreamsigns!
Together, we'll head into this vast new land, and whoever gets there first wins =P!

People have reported Lucid Dreams about...that...
But it's suggested that you get good at LDing before venturing there...

I can never remember most of my dreams! I always have a dream but when I wake up, I immediatly forget it! The only ones I remeber are the scary dreams. Should I try lucid dreaming on those too some day?
