Okay I'm doing a debate on if "English should not be the official language of America"
Im on the affirmitive side therefore i am for them not making it official.
I need some facts and stuff...
if you can help

please state your source

let it be up to date

please help ASAP

I need help on a debate.
the resolution is "english should not be the official langauge of the US"
i am on the affirmitive side meaning i am for them not adopting it.
if you have any facts or opinions on this topic

please:
it needs to be reliable
it needs to be up to date

i need help ASAP.

English shouldn't be the official language because most people eventually assimiliate into mainstream American society adopting it in a gradual process within a generation. So technically it already is, just not forced upon which is a good thing.

Just as a poll, I believe it should be.

America is a melting pot, yes, but it was a country founded on English.

And besides, it'll lead to greater productivity if everyone speaks it.

English is already a de facto official language and most people who come in this country are assimiliated to mainstream society within a generation

English is our language. We speak it, we write it, it's on the road signs. Every piece of paper worth anything in in English.

Don't care who comes over across the borders just as long as I can understand what they're saying.

English is America's official language. Its the only language that we're actually required to learn. Foreign languages are electives.

Should America Adopt English as its official language?

America = Melting Pot

We speak it, we hear it, we write it, we learn it. Its not going anywhere. There is no need to adopt something that is clearly the most current popular human language.

English is the required language everyone in the country must speak, so it should be made the official language. Plus, the country was built on the English language.

Nope shouldn't make English is official since there are a lot of other languages.

You know what's funny? There are over 300 hundred different languages in India. Not 30, not 3, but 3 hundred.

And since there's such thing as a language barrier, all but two of those languages are only spoken in theri respective areas of origin.

Geuss what those other two are.
#1.Hindi. Not bad, you know a lot about India.
#2 Wrong, the King's English.

Just thought that little bit of trivia would help you out.

I should have said "many other languages spoken in the US to choose from"

But still I don't think English should be the official language. I should stay the way it is.
