The fact is that English is the dominant language. More people speak English then not. Plus I would rather the language I know be the official one. . . . .that'd be convenient.

so what your saying is, even though this country was founded apont he english languge, is predominatly white, and pretty much came from the english, english shoulnt be the domniate language?

Only about 60% of English words are taken from Latin and the Romance languages. So no, it's not just a "few random words" from other languages. English originates from West-Germanic languages.

Making English the official language doesn't change much. As Square Ninja said, it doesn't force every single citizen in the country to learn it.
