So get this:

My friend loves this girl and they liked each other (not like serious) but my friend made a wrong move and hurt her feelings. Bad. So, he loves her more then she can imagine, which isn't exactly a good thing. Anyway, so he tried to get his mind of it by cutting his thumb with a pocketknife. He showed me the blood on it today. So, now I have to talk to his girlfriend to see what happened. He won't talk to anyone (or even look at anyone) and he says that that's how he's going to be for the rest of his life.

HELP!!!!!!! I don't know what to do!!! I know his girlfriend's older sisters.

PLEEEEASE HELP!!!!!

Ah, geez...the hopeless, love-struck bloke turned emo. Well, it'll seem a bit harsh at first, but you really have to let him know that this behaviour is not charming or sympathy-inspiring at all and that he needs to stop. He may not even know it, but he's trying to get attention, and he's hurting himself in the process...sooo, make it clear that he's not going to get attention that way, and he'll hopefully stop. It could take a while, though. Be careful not to nurture his new depressing ways, but at the same time, don't completely abandon him...it's hard, I know. I have friends who behave like this, from time to time...

just tell him that doing that to himself isnt going to chage anything.tell him to talk to his gf and work things out

Well,

Firstly, hit your friend...self alienation is not the way to go. After you do that yell at him because he's acting really stupid. Talk to the girl and tell her to comfort him and tell her to make sure he's okay, because she is the only one that can get through to him at the moment. /Dr phil.

your friends being a punk tell him to stop moping around about one girl and move on. its not like they were gonna spend the rest of their lives together. hell they werent going out in the first place.damn its that simple
