Its unfair for me

I have a sister who tells on me for just about anything and my dad always believes her then he quickly tells my mother causing her to get mad at me.

It all started a few days ago when my dad told me to clean the mircowave as I was washing the dishes. I got mad because he never tells my sister to do it when its her turn to wash dishes, that he gets mad at me saying that I don't like doing chores. Then just yesterday as I get home from school I start on the dishes and get a call from my mom who starts fussing about chores and getting a job. My dad tells me to act my age when I go to tell him about my sister who is 12 going on 13 but when she tells on me, he goes WW3 without giving me a chance to explain myself. Same with my mom minus the sister part, she seems to believe everything my dad tells her without me telling my side of the story.

Tip, never, ever talk back to your parents (it wont go down well). and lifes hard, dont worry, you will be livin by yourself in a few years.

Rox - You're still only 17 you really don't have much of a say. Of course she's gonna believe your dad over you. Really I'm thinking opinion on this more than it being that unfair. But I don't know you so I can't say for sure.

You're five years older than her - of course your parents are going to hold you to stricter standards and expect you to take on more responsibility.

Typically the younger childer will get babied more that the older child... luckily for me I was the younger child. ;P

I think it's probably the fact that you're 17 and your parents are trying to make sure that you mold properly into an adult. I also believe that maybe they are more strict with you on the chores because they want to make sure they instill stuff like that in you so that you will take care of yourself when you eventually move out. It's also a bit of a nest syndrome type thing... they think you are pretty much grown up already so they are probably a little more affectionate towards your sister... kind of like a replacement type thing.

Also fathers tend to favor their daughters more than their sons... basically they're nicer and stuff with their "daddy's little girl".

Then again I don't know you or your family... so I could totally be off the mark with this.

The only reason i can see about them yelling at you is because, dude it's only a friggin microwave. It's one chore more for the kitchen compared to your sister "just" washing the dishes. You're 17 and when it comes time for you to take the initiative to go to college, get an apartment, just plain being out on your own if you ever want to, you'd no longer live under the roof of your parents house thereby escaping their rules. That leaves your sister to take on more responsibilities.

Also, your father needs to grow a backbone if he's bitching about all your problems to your mother......seriously.

As I read the title, i had a little indication to take your side, but then I looked at the "got mad for having to clean microwave"part and stopped reading.

You have no right to complain.You're 17 years old, how mature are you?You're just about an adult and you're crying over a 12-13 year old little girl that gets her way? Get real man.It's time to man up.

Inequality isnt that fun for the guy on the wrong side. Plus 12 year olds can be bitches. Do something within reason that makes her see that you are still her superior.

Yeah, this is simply sibling rivalry. I go through the exact same thing with my sister. If I snap at her for doing anything wrong, I tend to get a yelling from my parents. Just try and get past like every natural teenager will. Get the fuck out of the house and stay away from her until she learns to grow up.

Parents tend not to listen to the oldest because they feel they're responsible for their age. Which can be a pain sometimes, but damned if it's not true.
