    Default Carnage.

A lot better than my other tag. What do you guys think? It's a little on the simple side, maybe, but I think it gets the job done.

I'm not the most experienced tagger here but I'll just tell you what I think. I've seen some of your work and I've also seen you've improved a lot. Makes sense, you get better and better at something if you do it a lot!
Now I feel like there's something missing on this piece, I feel like there should be more going on on the right, I do like what you did with the lighting and colors. Also I think the smudging should be a bit less than this, especially on his face, besides, less is more! That's about it. That stock has amazing quality, btw. :)

    It's awkward looking.

The right side is completely smudged and the left side is almost there, but then you just left the little left corner up there and it looks really odd. Also, speaking of the left corner, it's way too bright. I think I understand where you're trying to make your light source come from, but it isn't helping to make the stock the focal. And that also has to do with the fact that the stock is obscured. You smudged him a bit too much and now it's hard to focus on him. That, combined with the awkward light source in the top left, is making it really difficult for me to focus in on anything in general, let alone the stock.

Colors are also odd and have no real composition. Flow seems to counter the stock, as well.

Yeah I getcha. The only actual part of the stock that was smudged was the shoulder and arm a little. The rest a took a smudge brush eraser to, to make it appear as if the C4D were part of carnage. I get the flow of it for sure, I suppose I wasn't thinking too much about the flow. The lighting might be too bright but at the same time, the tag is too dark with out it, naturally. The background is a night background, Carnage is a deeper color, and same with the C4D.

Next tag I'll be sure to keep these things in mind though. I do appreciate the critiques :)

(Thanks Shawty for the compliments! There is something missing...)

yeah the left side is completely diddlyed. there's no style to it at all. you just smudged it downwards. the thing with smudging is it needs substance and $w@GG

That is a C4D coming out of his head x) not a smudge. If I could smudge that much off a stock... I wouldn't. I will definitely take the critiques to heart though, I need to get better.

    Thanks!

Then you chose a terrible render because it doesn't look like one. All it looks like is the same smudging style used on the right side.

taylor you closed the thread silly

this reminds me a venom tag a friend of mine made a while back. there's great potential here, you just need to do more than smudging.

i imagine some type of effect where you make it look like sticky red slime is coming off of carnage a little ( i wish i had the tag to show as an example)

Precisely. I should have toned down the smudge when I blended the duplicate C4D together.

As far as the other sections of smudging, I couldn't seem to find what I was wanting to do with the rest of the tag. I was having artist block, so maybe I wasn't being as... creative as I could have been.
