Default Halfway through my graphic design course

It's pretty nifty! I've become well-versed in Illustrator and InDesign now...which will undoubtedly help you in the future.

Now listen to me very closely, KHI artists.

YOU HAVE NO IDEA HOW MUCH THIS FORUM WILL HELP YOU IN GRAPHIC DESIGN.

Having done sigs, wallpapers, etc. here for like 3-4 years, and being well-versed in Photoshop, I'm leagues ahead of the other kids here studying. Even though this school has a reputable GD program, I'm pulling off techniques I learned here that my teacher was even asking about. I was blown away by how ahead of the curve I am and how quickly I picked up the other Adobe programs.

If you have any interest in being a Graphic Designer or Illustrator, keep being an active member of an online art community like this one.

You build an eye for balance, composition, typography, design and flow here faster than you ever will in the "technicalities" of school.

So I get back in 2 weeks...I'll let you know how everything goes and maybe show some of my portfolio (though most of my current portfolio includes works that art schools crave, like observational drawings, figure drawings, still-life, self-portrait, etc. over actual logos/graphic design creations).

Later!

Well this is like confirmation for me. I had a feeling that through tagging I developed some knowledge in photoshop that might help me later on.

See, making tags isn't a complete waste of time ;]

You are so lucky to be in a program like this, you must be learning the coolest ways of doing stuff.

Lol bullshit.
taggers know much more than actual designers out in the field.

more than half of the time at least, lmao.
seriously. specially if you're good.

I could disagree with you, on the fact that my mother is a graphic designer and there is a lot more to it than what is commonly believed. Graphic Design is not "yay websites lets do what i want!" graphic design is given everything you need and simply being told "put this in illustrator and make a pamphlet" essentially. If you're lucky, you get to design a website. It's more about strategically placing things, so although "tagging" may help with some things, that does not, at all, guarantee you know more than graphic designers, because there's a difference between you and i and ken and hellpark and scarecrow, and those who go to school to actually learn it.

My technology teacher hates me for this. I'm so far ahead that I don't even try and get an A.

Yay for shitty public schooling!

Oh ofcourse.
When I typed that up, I was thinking about some of the shitty ass advertisements I see made by some graphic designers, was all.

I'd love to meet your mom, btw.

his point is that the technical proficiency you gain by having used the programs for the last couple years before you enter a design course is quite helpful

but on another note, tags =/= graphic design

nothing here has anything to do with graphic design at all, really. especially considering most of the people here can't manage to get their head around basic techniques like the rule of thirds

Well still, you don't have to be a member on a forum to learn the program. :/ All it does is speed up the process a bit, aha.

one time ;___________;

But yeah, really. making tags in photoshop is much different than the kinds of things that graphic designer's do. it's good to know your way around the program though, so it does help.
