Yeah the gym leaders would give him a badge for helping them out with problems like Team Rocket

and if he won them in a battle then the gym leaders gave him a badge but it would have probably been a rematch battle agianst them

I restarted my Red. In 2:15, I have 2 badges. I have 4 Pokemon in my Pokedex, Suirtle, Caterpie, Paras, and Pikachu. I only use Squirtle, but i have Paras on my line-up incase its necessary. Squirtle is on level 28 with Bite, Withdraw, Water Gun, and Bubble.

Yeah just about the entire first season arc up until the Pokemon League Ash didn't really have a real test with any of the gym leaders due to Team Rocket.

I've mainly spent the last day and a half putting honey on the honey trees trying to encounter a Munchlax but so far to no avail mostly all that I'm encountering are Combee, Aipom, Burmy, Silcoon, and Wurmple.

Awesome dude! You're already set to go on your Pokemon adventure, I don't even own the DS Headset though since I don't have a way to communicate with others with it since no wireless router or USB Connector here.

Haha yeah, my Pokemon adventure started many years ago, just was in need of an upgrade! <3

I just got Pokemon Pearl last night, and, I'm trading it in tomorrow. It's a horrible game. GameFreak really f*cked up the series for me.

It's totally horrible. I played the originals and found myself having a lot more fun with them. Even though in the old ones, it was all straight forward, they would add little side "missions" on the way, which didn't take you away from your main route. In Pearl, the map is good for nothing, the characters are boring, no indication on where you have to go, and the Gym Leaders aren't intimidating. If they had actually done something more unique, and added better graphics and didn't recycle sounds, it would've been better, but I can't seem to get the willpower to get the third badge.

You played it for one day? lol
Ask most of us, we didn't really like it at first and it grew on us. You meet better characters, the gym leaders get tougher and the game is full of side-things-to-do, trust me.

Give it at least a little longer. I doubt anybody took to the original games right away.

How can I play it if I can't stand to play it. Like, I don't even know if I'm at the right town. I have to play dress up with my Pokemon before I can fight the gym leader or something. And my friend has had Diamond since launch, and he is a die hard pokemon fan, he doesn't like them either. I just think that I would get my money's worth out of Professor Layton.

The dress up contest thing was mainly just a side quest I also thought at first that you had to participate in it just to fight the ghost type Pokemon gym leader but you don't, that gym leader at that town comes later on in the game.
