That's pretty cool I s'pose, Squire Ninja, I'll put more priority into delving deeper in such games
Call me pathetic-call me what you will, but I love games that are like movies.
It's not as much as The Battle System, or the length, or technical things like that- it's the emotion, and how the graphic artists portray those emotions to make them seem real to you- you know?
Those are the kind of RPGs I like.
And call me shallow, but there is only ONE video game that not only had good enough graphics to show a character's emotion seemingly human like, but to have characters you honestly care about.
And that's Final Fantasy XIII
So far, no other video game- no not even "Kingdom Hearts" itself, gets the player so involved, so interested in the game.
That, in my opinion, is the best kind of game out there, and to me-the only one of it's kind.
Could you prove me wrong please? Show me a game like Final Fantasy VIII, please. Thank you to all who reply

Some of those RPGs I mentioned have more emotion than half of the Final Fantasy series. "The Way" in particular is perhaps the best example of this. The emotion, however, doesn't come from some elaborate CG cutscenes, but from superb writting and likable characters. It's nearly all substance, and very little fluff. The Way, unlike most of the other games I mentioned, is very linear in its progression and exploration; however, there is a really neat "relationship" system. Depending upon how you treat other characters, certain events can occur differently. If you can look past RPG Maker 2000's graphics, then you're in for a real treat. It definitely gives the Final Fantasy series a run for its money.Originally Posted by Engulfed
What graphics? Those are just CG cutscenes, and FFIX even one-ups VIII in that department. I could go on, but I'll just say I strongly disagree.Originally Posted by Engulfed
I can think of many games that do this same thing, anything from Hideo Kojima, Fumito Ueda, and Tim Schafer. Some of the greatest characters in all of video gaming come from their games.Originally Posted by Engulfed

Agreed. And the great thing about IX is that there's more of them.Originally Posted by Square Ninja
I'm only onto disc 2 of IX, but so far I'm enjoying more than other Final Fantasies I've played.
If you have not played Final Fantasy IX, then I suggest you do so.
Well Ninja- I suppose that becomes a difference of opinion :D I suppose you have a point- the graphics in VIII aren't at all state-of-the-art, but the spirit and soul the animators put in to them made them seem more real.
But- to be fair, I downloaded "The Way", but it was in a foreign language.. French, methinks, or Spanish.
2D games just can't bring that to you- I'm a very, very visual gamer when I play. Plus I like the romance story :P.
Aand I have not yet played IX, but hearing about it from all 'yall is making me eager to get it for Xmas. I'd get FFX, but I watched my bro play it and now it's spoiled for me =P

Then you downloaded the wrong version. All of the episodes are released in English first then translated later.Originally Posted by Engulfed

What Square said. It usually tells you what language it's in anyway. You must've downloaded it from the update page. Go to the Download page: http://www.crestfallen.us/download.htmlOriginally Posted by Engulfed

Gotcha. I guess I found the first one I could see, -didn't even read anything, as i always do- and downloaded it.
I'm seriously gonna check this out, all 'yall give it great praise- so it must be pretty awesome.

Yes, it's boner-inducing fun. That's a pretty good way to define it.Originally Posted by Engulfed
I would love to expound upon just how much I love the story, but to do so would be to spoil it almost completely. The plot of "The Way" is better than that of most RPGs out there. Part of what makes it so interesting is how the protagonist is affected by the events in his journey. There is quite a bit of moral ambiguity along The Way, and it really starts to have an effect on him.

I wish that people would've been this interested when I made a thread about this game some time ago, then we wouldn't have to flood unrelated threads with our extollment.
"The Way" is a bit...harder than I had expected.
I'm stuck at the "Bunny Place". He's trying to eat the rabbit and he can't let the rabbit look at him. It's pretty hard. "Engulfing" story tho' :D
