Is it just me or......

I watch G4TV a lot & I noticed that most games nowadys are: first person shooters, shootem-up, stealing cars & sleeping with "gifted" women, & racing. I have nothing against racing but most games are all these first person shooters where the only object of the game is to kill as many people as you possibly can. Just five years ago there wernt near as many as there are today. But now that seems to be the only games coming out. I mean, what is it with peoples obsession wiht killing people? All these games are like, DEATH DEATH KILLL KILL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What happened to the good games? Like, Crash & Spyro? (Not that I play them) It seesm to me that the olny good games today are: FF(Of course!), KH(Duh!), Mario, TLOZ, & the few other different games that get ignored becuase everybody wants a game where you tun arond with a gun in your hand killing people, stealing, runign from cops ect.

Please correct me if Im wrong.

You are right. Most kids of today's society are desensitized to violence, meaning, it doesn't bother them at all. This means that they want more, and the video game producers want to give the audience what they want. The only thing the companies think about is money, so if violence sells, they will make sure to make it availible to their target audience.

You know your totally right!Games today are just fps,racing,or just plain over the top violent.Where did all the good games go like ...Monkey Island games,or well almost anything.Where's the inovation (exept nintendo of course)?Well I think that everyone should just make better games it might take longer but the games will be better!

Your statement has almost brought tears to my eyes. You are so far the only person I have not had to call an idiot, ecspecally on this topic. In fct I don't even like to refer to most of these people as gamers in my opinion they're just using games as another way to get their sex and violence. Though I don't like racing games I can agree with you 100% on this, you my freind are the first person I've agreed with it feels good and I thank you. "Mainstream Gamers" are something that about 5 years ago everyone thought would pass now bwcause of this mainstream-ness very few entertaining games are made. I would like to refer to my review of POP2 warrior within as proof.

It just makes me sad that almost all games nod on focusing on sex & killing. I remeber playing Spyro. The worlds were beatifull. You guided a dragon that saved the world. There was no violence or cursing. I'm almost embaresed to state that I am a gamer. What do you see 90% of the time when you wach game previews? Someone killing other peeople or zombies with a huge badass gun, runing from cops, stealing cars, jiggly women & of course, killing people witha gun. Sony & Microsoft keep repeating the same thing over & over again. At least Nintendo is inovative. I was in shock when I heard of that katari game thing whith this little guy who rolls a ball colecting junk. I was like: OMG! Somethign different! Amazing...." 70% of alll games are: First person shoter death death kill kill. At least, thats what I think.

I ask to you sick, twisted, evil, violent people: WHAT ABOUT SAVING THE WORLD!? WHY NOT SAVE LIVE INSTEAD OF WRONGFULLY TAKING THEM!?

I guess you're right. Even some of the games that aren't meant to be violent. Like Jak II for instance. You can kill the townspeople with your gun. You can steal hovers and such. The difference is it's a fictional place with fictional species and fictional everything else.

I could careless about the content of the game, but those genres are becoming insanely monotonous. The only racing game I find fun still is Burn Out 3. I can't stand FPS, unless it's Call of Duty. The whole GTA theme games are horrible unless they are GTA. Even GTA is becoming old and filled with overused game play elements. You can only do so much.

I also find it hilarious how EA and Sega Sports are making tons of money off of sports games and they are basicly the same game with updated stats. They should just sell upgrade discs for $25-$30 >.>

Gaming companies only care about the money, not the people. They want whatever is going to sell. And what brings in the cash more than sex and violence? Nothing...according to them anyway. In an article I just read about an SE game called Itadaki Street Special (curtesy of Blue Mage) I noticed that when they were listing the characters that would be in in from Final Fantasy, they only mentioned girls. Tifa, Yuna and Rikku. They are just trying to appeal to the male audience, hoping that that would somehow grabbed their attention and get them to buy the game, which is really sad, especially for SE.

As for the violence part, are you talking about games that have "comic mischeif" or games with the whole blood, guts and gore? Because some games with violence are as bad as the eyes of the beholder sees them. Games like GTA are just pathetically violent, and have no point to them. But RPG games, there, of course, has to be killing in order to save the world; which there is nothing wrong with.

I love violence in video games, but back then I used to love Spyro the Dragon, I still love that game but only the first one and third one are good. The rest suck, then Crash team racing is really fun. But all these games, including the platformers have a form of violence in them. Example: Spyro flaming a sheep, Crash shooting a bomb at another car and blowing it off track, Ratchet and Clank shooting someone. But anyway, everyone seems to like violence (I'm a fan of gore) the only games that don't have violence or gore are puzzle games and some simulation games which are as good as violent games. Overall, there's nothing you can do about it because nowadays that's what sells in not only games, but movies as well.

Yes, it is....very sad.

Its not only games that are becoming more violent & risque. No movies are as low as most video gmaes. How many pure, clean movies & games are out there? Vey few. Sometimes a litttle violence is OK. Like: Spyro flaming a sheep, Crash luanching a bomb at Cortex's cart, & of course killing eveil peopel in FF. Sometimes you have to kill somoen to save the world (Seymour, Yunalesca, KO a few Yevon Guards).

I agree with all of you, games are ways of entertainment to people, and they contain no great storylines except for a few games. When I played KH for the first time, I loved it. It is one of the most beautiful games I've ever played and it has changed my life in alot of ways. Games should be like that, beautiful, entertaining, and helps our growth and understanding of life.

I hate most of the new games that are coming out nowadays.They have no storyline and even if they do its usually crap.The whole thing is mostly about sensless violence.Take GTA and its copies all you do is run around destroying things.And even Sonic games are changing i mean they are meant for kids but it has a Hedgehog running aorund with a gun.The onlky games that havent changed it all out senseless violence are FF, KH, Mario, Pokemon and such games.All the other games have gone for all out violence just to please the crave for violence that most people today have.

Yeah I agree games are vilent nowadays, but I'm sorta split on thaat subjest I say stick to the ratings, and you'll be ok for the most part.
