Sorry if there is a topic about this game, but couldn't find it and Ib is too small for the search engine.

Ib is an Horror RPG made in RPG Maker. At first, you might wonder how a game in RPG Maker (AKA - Top down 2D RPG) can be classified as horror. Well to be honest, I didn't know how either until I played it. It is not something easily explainable, it is the feeling the game gives you (although there is one part that is DEFINITELY horror worthy, and I am not talking about jump scares).

You are a little girl named Ib who is visiting an art galery with your parents. Suddenly, the lights go out and you are alone. The paintings begin coming to life and you see yourself delving into one, reaching a strange world. Here you will find friends and not so friendly people, and with multiple endings depending on your actions and the horror factor this world puts into your head - you are in for a heck of a ride.

This is not an RPG where you see an enemy and for example go into a turn based fight. In this RPG, you can't fight back - you are defenseless. Your only choice upon the sight of an enemy is to run. Solving puzzles and riddles while watching your step, this RPG is the best RPG made in RPG Maker I ever played and I guess you should play too. The music is very good as well.

If you don't want to go in this ride by yourself, I suggest you seeing a playthrough. Even without playing, it will induce the horror factor and the story will suck you in. Here is my personal favourite (strong language): Cry Plays: Ib [P1]- YouTube

Ahh, I love Cry! <3 But this game sounds a lot like Amnesia, from what you said in your post. I kinda wanna play it, but I can't even finish Amnesia for various reasons. :(

Alright, not as creepy as Amnesia. This game is one that even VERY cowardly people can finish. Believe me. I haven't gotten past the prison since Amnesia was released and I finished this game and loved it. At least watch Cry and his sexy voice (I am hetero but god that voice)

God, Amnesia is just.... I can't handle it. I know that sounds crazy, but it's just too nerve-wracking.
But yes, Cry's voice is uber sexy. I like him better than Pewdie, in fact.

I feel like I've played this game before or I've seen someone play it, it just seems so familiar.. I don't know, I could be mixing this up with another game but I do know I used to play games like those a lot. I've been watching the playthrough and I recognized the beginning of the game. Maybe I've never finished it. And you're right, Cry's voice is very pleasant to listen to!

Thank you whoever moved this to the right section. Only other games that can come the top of my head that are like this are Ao Oni and Hidden in the Shadows, mainly because both Pewdie and Cry played Ao Oni and Cry is playing Hidden in the Shadows. They are both cool games as well and they have their share of "GO AWAY YOU CREEPY THING GO AWAY I FORGOT TO SAVE Q.Q" and "A monster will pop out I am sure of it. Better save. *saves* I am ready- AAAAAHHHHHH". Ao Oni has it's fair share of horror inducing scenes like Ib without jump scares. So I recommend playing it as well. Hidden in the Shadows is good IF you can ignore the grammar. God, it hurt my eyes while watching Cry play it but I was crying tears of blood (both from the frustration since I want to finish the game before watching Cry play the rest) and from the grammar.

Also, who thinks Ib would make one cool kupoed up anime? If you played through it, it has the plot and the looks for it.

Wow, a topic on Ib.

I watched Cry's playtrough, and before that I played the game, but I couldn't finish 'cause I'm a scaredy cat when it comes to playing horror games.

Poor Cry, he had one of the worst endings. It's too bad he was so upset that he didn't want to continue and get the good ones.

I really, really wanted to kill Mary too when I saw that ending. Geez, I get where she's coming from but still, not Gary, that adorable ball of fluff! :'(

Curse you Mary.

I really liked the plot, and the characters were very cool. And Gary, he's so likeable. Guertena must have quite the creep when he was alive though.

Also, I made my brother play Ib recently, he liked it. :)
