I don't really use Archon, so far through Nightmare I've just spammed chain lightning while keeping everything under a blizzard.
Some elite packs can really hurt me though.
Also I really wish they didn't Warcraft III the ending.
time for nightmare modo

Nightmare so far has been me running away from elites until Diamond Skin is up, then hitting them with arcane torrent while absorbing damage until they die, that's it.
I hear more than enough on the forums that nightmare-hell difficulty transition is like, 10x as intense as normal-to-nightmare(barbarian tank builds getting two-shotted), and it just gets bigger going to inferno.

Would anyone happen to have a D3 guest pass?

This mostly has to do with the fact that they skills & buffs scale downwards as well as the resistances. Diablo 2 had negative resistances in hell mode to combat player res. A player with high enough res would be able to mitigate alot of elemental damage. This isn't the case with D3. At best I have 21-23% res to all elements, and 50% damage reduction.
Another issue I'm seeing is that I *SHOULD* have 45% dodge, but only get 40. 30% from dexterity bonuses & 10% (should be 15%) from skills. Sadly elemental attacks such as arcane sentry & venom/fire pools ALWAYS hit. So there is no avoiding them.
The two ways I've seen it mitigated is via extremely high intelligence (only workable for wizard/witch doctor? class). But intel isn't useful to other classes. Only way for me is to spam heal 1k regens, negate enemy damage by 45% (apparently only phys :( ) and try to dodge/mitigate the rest.
But like I said, this doesn't work on elements. :( So I just have to keep spamming regens & keep attacking to keep my spirits maxed.
Works pretty well until I run out of spirit (rarely) or I get three arcane sentries and no exit. :(
I esp hated the "Illusionist (splits into 5 enemies) Arcane (Arcane sentry) Invulnerable Minions" elites. Far too OP.
So the ONLY reason Hell/Inferno are difficult is due to elemental resistances.

I thought Elite's physical attacks were two-shotting people. I suppose that's the reason barbarian "tanks" were complaining, they didn't stack resistances.

If it was purely a physical issue, Monks & Barbs would have no issues at all. Simply put monks would be able to mitigate through dodge & heal (as I do) and Barbs would power through it with damage reductions if it was physical damage issues.
Its the elemental parts that are the hardest, not the physical. I have a weaker (as far as dps is concerned) Monk than my Barb friends... (3.3K dps & 3.1K def) but can stand toe-to-toe due to my decrease damage/increase damage taken skills and healing abilities. But even that doesn't help past halfway through hell. (No way to heal fast enough.. should be based on X% of total hp for healing imho.)
Was playing with my monk and two barbs, had the barbs whirlwinding mobs and I was healing & casting (Cyclone?) to keep pulling the mobs into the spinning vortex of death.. while also mitigating enemy damage and increasing enemy damage taken. It worked pretty well.

They released some kind of stealth patch recently, apparently damage reduction wasn't working for barbs and monks earlier and now barbs are able to handle act 1 inferno.
Act 2 inferno is still basically out of the question for barbs.
Hey, at the risk of completely making a fool of myself, can someone here help me out? I want to try this game out, but I have no idea whether or not my sub-par ASUS laptop can run it on even low settings, and I don't want to shell out the money without knowing for sure. I don't think it's really made to be much of a gaming laptop, as I got it from my family for Christmas and lord knows they don't know anything about computers.
Anyway, according to Can You Run It my laptop passes on all aspects except for dedicated video RAM (go figure, with an integrated Intel HD graphics card), which I only have an absolutely terrible 64 MBs of, to the required 256. Awful, I know, but I have 1.7 GBs of video RAM, and I'm not quite sure what the difference of video ram and dedicated video ram is. Furthermore I have 8.1 GBs of total RAM, to the required 1.5, which is WAY over, and I don't know if that extra RAM can be somehow allocated to video RAM or to help the game run better.
So yeah, needless to say help would be greatly appreciated. I'm pretty new when it comes to all of this terminology, so let's try to keep it somewhat in normal english here ;D Also, if someone has a spare guest pass they can send my way then that would be really amazing, just so I can see for sure whether or not I can run this.
