Scratch the 3D and I'd be good. It'd be difficult, but I don't doubt that Nintendo could pull it off.

Fitting the game into one DS cartridge could possibly be a challenge, although if squeezing it into one cartridge turns out to be an issue, I could tolerate it on the Wii or something. But of course, even on the Wii I'd want it to keep pokemon's classic grid-like moving etc. It could be on the 3DS I suppose, but again I'm a bit iffy on whether it could fit on one cartridge/whatever 3DS's use.

A game with every region completely detailed and a story that presumably continues through each would be pretty massive, I'm not sure how much space exactly it would require.

EDIT: Battling past protagonists could be a problem, seeing as Red would be like 30 or something when you come across him. The games aren't all happening simultaneously in each region, guys. The past main characters get older.

I was also thinking about the massive space a game with all the complete regions would take up. It might be difficult, but I do not know about how much the cartridge can hold.

Red is like 16 in B/W if three years has passed since Gen II/IV. So if the next generation happened simultaneously with Gen V he would only be 16. I really do not see the problems caused with the past main characters being older if you met them. They just might look older and be a bit more of a challenge to battle.

I doubt space would be much of a problem. If they were able to do it on a GBC, then they can certainly do it on a modern handheld. HeartGold and SoulSilver is a testament to that.

I hope it is not. A game with all the regions would be awesome. They did a great job with Johto and Kanto in HeartGold and SoulSilver.

Could've sworn I saw something putting Gold at 16 at the time of HG/SS, and Red slightly older than that (however many years considered to be between the events of FR/LG and HG/SS). We don't know how far into the future B/W is from HG/SS, but if this theoretical game is even further into the future than B/W, and assuming my hazy memory of character's ages in past installments is accurate, it wouldn't be a stretch to say Red would be at least over 20.

How much time passes between each gen? The games never really tell us, besides having past characters reappearing and seeming the be of similar age from when we last met up with them.

EDIT: I'd have to think that if memory space isn't an issue, why aren't current games bigger than they are? They're only using one region after all, so are they barely using any of the space on the cartridge? I'd like to think that they at least try to take up most of the space available to them. And if that is the case and one region in full detail does take up most of the cartridge, then I'm skeptical that one game featuring all regions in full detail could fit on one cartridge.

Is it ever said how long passed between Gen II/IV and Gen V? I know II/IV take place at the same time based on what is said in B/W, and by that logic, and because they were on the same system (the remakes at least), I/III take place at the same time. But not much is said about Gen V.
One of the Plasma grunts in B/W says something about Team Rocket and Team Galactic failing because they were too public, and that made it seem like they were recent events. I wouldn't mind a time gap, I just want to know how much time passed, if any at all, if this whole all regions into one game came to pass

I always make the assumption that all the protagonist characters start out their journey at 10, so you can guess from there.
In HeartGold/Soulsilver it specifically mentions that it has been three years since Red defeated Team Rocket. We do not know exactly how much time has passed otherwise really. We can only make assumptions based on observations.

Red's 16 as of FR/LG in the manga, according to this. I doubt the manga character's ages directly correlate with their game counterpart's ages but it's something to think about I suppose. Even if this was the case, I guess it wouldn't be impossible that we'd come across Red in this new game, however old he may be. I'd expect him to be pretty freakin good, though :>

I wonder, if this game ever did exist, what would it be called?

Pokemon: Rainbow and Pokemon: Double Rainbow

EDIT: Well bonk. I can never settle on a 6th pokemon. I was using a Metagross before hand mainly to set up Stealth Rocks but caved into using Deoxys-S. It's funny but my team is doing far worse with Deoxys. Guess it's back to the drawing board. Might go back to using Heatran. It functions as a better Metagross.

Will they ever start a pokemon game where the character is older than 10 years old. I wouldn't mind a 13 year old or even a 14 year old

Supposedely the characters from B/W were older than 10. I can't remember where I heard that cause it was never mentioned in the game. As if there would be a reason to.

Actually found something on the 15th movie. Information on fifteenth Pokémon movie revealed - Bulbanews

So the main pokemon will be Kyurem, and the Musketeer trio, and Keldeo (speculated). This would be the thing that gets Keldeo an official release.

Heart Gold and Soul Silver had the gen 3 champ cameo. Also had Cynthia in there as well if I remember right.
