You could.If I'm not mistaken you could get both in the original games.
They had different movesets and came at different levels (in silver, you get lugia earlier, in gold you get ho-oh earlier, I don't think the gold lugia knows aeroblast but I can't remember), though.

If you play long enough, you won't be able to save any more. The day/night system drains the GBC's internal battery.

I just meantioned that my copy of Silver is broken. When I'm saving a game, it gets deleted after I turn off the GB. Someone told me ones it is a common problem with the Gold and Silver games after some years.
EDIT: Well, Paolo cleared that up.

Yeah the night and day think jack around with the save battery you can buy a new one on ebay. It is very easy to install a new one.

You lose the ability to save after a period in a couple of years, due to the internal battery running down in the cartridge. My Silver still saves....I think. Originally Posted by Shadow Soldier
