Nintendo @ E3 2008 : Official Discussion Thread!

I agree SS, Nintendo evidently weren't ready this year for E3, and with Reggie claiming Animal Crossing as a 'hardcore' title then i'm suitably disappointed.

That being said, the winner of E3 this year is evidently the third party devs, we've seen some great trailers for the likes of the Conduit and Mad World, and lots of great multiplatform stuff heading our way, and no matter what anyone says, WiiMotion+ will be great (especially in regards to a confirmed new Zelda in the wakes)

does nintendo think we have tvs just for the wii? I have a cable box, a ps2 (my other tv broke), a dvd, and a vhs player all hooked up to my tv, and with the wii, there are just too many wires. Where do the wires go since they're soo long! And now there making all these stupid things like microphones that have stupid wires!

Nintendo is going to rule the world for they're brainwashing all the 40-year-olds and up, or the very little kids. But the teenagers are the ones who want the real games. The Wii is going to do horrible this year, because they didn't make games that interest everyone. Yes, you work with the masses, but those core gamers that stick to the wii shouldn't be left out. They could have at least talked about their plans for a Zelda game, not mentioned it AFTER the conference. And to tell you the truth, I'm getting tired of these child-friendly games. Besides the few, the core games for the Wii were Zelda, Metroid, and Mario, but there all child-friendly games. Zelda isn't intense as Core games on the PS3, and is starting to get stail. Mario, though will always be great, needs something else. Metroid, is also too friendly. I mean, they should have better weapons, and awesome battle cutscenes like in other sci-fi 1st person shooter. Nintendo should have joined Microsoft or Sony. Together they could have been the unstoppable force, killer graphics of PS3/Xbox360, real motion controll, and hardcore games made by Sony with the casual games made by Nintendo. Nintendo is going to loose to microsoft, for now XBox 360 is getting FFXIII. everyone will go to Xbox instead of PS3 since its cheapper. Where is wii in all of this But Nintendo only gets CoD:World at War, which the game looks like a low-quality version of a PS3 or Xbox game. Instead of WiiMusic or another Wii title, they should have paid Square Enix for a FFXIII as well. But no, there cheap and stingy who works for the masses. The Wii is supposed to be for everyone, but why are they working only for the majority? This makes me cry .

If there adding stupid Waggle Power to the next Zelda installment, I'm not buying it. Thats why I hated Twilight Princess, I felt like a f*cking pedophile waggle my remote in front of people. Also, they better have new graphics seeing as how TP was just a port of the stupid gamecube version.

i know its hard, but you can't really blame them for the graphics because it was a gamecube game. But if its the same graphics next time, then you could bash 'em. I feel left out since I was looking forward to awesome games. And I envy PS3/Xbox owners because they have Grand Turismo, Devil May Cry, Resident Evil 5, and so many more. Don't we deserve RE5 since Gamecube was the original platform for RE4.

I'd agree that RE5 should be on the Wii, but the graphics would suffer.

Yes, but thats NINTENDOS FAULT!!!! Well, it gets me angry that Nintendo thinks who they hell they are because of the wii, yet there games suck, there hardware sucks, and they loose to Microsoft and Sony bigtime. At least Microsoft had an addon to watch movies. Sony has bluray and movie stores. Wii...can't watch dvd or buy one from a shop. Nintendo is evil!

Ironically firms exist to make money, so therefore by diversifying into new territory making the medium more 'open', they are able to capture a vast amount of the market, and thus money. That's all they're after at the end of the day.

FFXIII will never appear on the Wii, mainly due to lacklustre technology in comparison to the 360/PS3, albeit i'm skeptical about how much the PS3 devs are using of the Blu-Ray disc itself, if it can be ported to a DVD relatively easy.

So they did lie. Nintendo made the cheap way out to make quick cash on a rushed console that didn't have the specs needed to beat the Sony Playstation or Microsoft XBox. If they think its not about being the best, but getting new players, they are real fat a$$es. that's not how you run a business, you want to be the best! They were cheap and lazy! This is what makes Nintendo the worst compony. Comeon, I want:

1. Good Graphics
2. Good Gameplay
3. Good Story

No we don't have good graphics, so why spend the time playing ugly games that doesn't go hand in hand with gamplay. We "could have good gameplay" but no, we wave our arms around like crazy for games. Where are all the action games that could use the wiimote to its advantage. As for story line, all games are childish. Go Diego Go! or Crash Bandicoot is what we get. Where are games with purposes? Zelda: Twilight Princess had a good storyline, but still childish. I want games like Resistance or Metal Gear Solid, or something along the lines. The company makes it sound like there are few gamers that are hardcore, but there are wrong. There are few hardcore gamers that are buying their products. Most people are hardcore, or at least like some core games. Yeah there are more casual players... buying the wii. You know why they say that there games are for casual players, because core players abandoned the wii to a real system. The Wii had sucess for the wrong reason, you don't make a system for new players, you draw the old players back. Who cares about those who are just getting into games, you need gamers who WILL buy your product. So why be cheap and risk unsuccesful products knowing that you are trying to get people who aren't into videogames, or get people who are into videogames for a confirmed sucess.

Edit: If they included Playstation 3/XBox Technology, with the wii controls, they would have had sales increase tenfold

Morgan Webb: So Reggie what do you have to say to harcore gamers who might feel left out by you at this point?

Reggie: How can you possibly feel left out. We've got Animal Crossing with voice chat fully hooked up the internet, and Grand Theft Auto on the DS, so how can you possibly feel left out?

nintendo had their best games out for the first half of the year, everyone just really wanted more from them this e3. Dissapointed in this but that motion plus thing, whens it gets in the hands of developers, its going to be awesome. Zelda sword combat

Finally this will show the world how crappy the Wii really is, downgrading an HD XBox 360 game to 480i-480p, crappy Wii graphics. Reggie is an idiot if he thinks animal crossing is core. And everyone thinks the microphone sucks. Come on, in a war game, you want to curse to express how intense it looks! If i'm playing world at war, and someone is cursing on wifi, my parents would take the mic away! And there WERE hardcore games comming out, like Castlevania Judgement and The Conduit. And weren't we seeing that game Sadness? That game, if it has good graphics, will look sick being in black-and-white!
