What are you talking about? Final Destination doesn't ruin the game. Melee can or can not be about using various items or "teh f1gh71n6 sk1llz". Its a great place for a fair fight with NO items, so you can see the player's TRUE skills, instead of being blinded by having them throw projectiles at you 24/7 then running to get another. Its fun, I will admit that. But the showing off what you REALLY can do without an item at your side shows that you are a good player.I'm not saying that you CAN'T be a good player because you use items, just proving a point. There is a little something more to it. *ahem* For example, My cousin LOVES items. So he always does the same thing when he fights me. Run Away, Get Item, Throw at me, repeat. This strategy actually works out pretty well, considering I actually got Ko'd by it. Then we did a "fair" fight. Final Destination, no items, no where to run, no where to hide. I literally played ping-pong with him the entire match. He only hit me 8 times with a total damage of 47%. End Of Example. As My example showed, a person can be good with items, but ultimatley suck when it comes to hand-to-hand combat. Unless you can mix your item combat skills with your fighting skills, don't consider yourself good. If not, then I suggest you work on your "f1gh71n6 sk1llz." This applies for everyone. Rep Power: 14 ![]() ![]() Level: 25 EXP: | You misunderstand, 364. Using the items and the environment to your advantage is a very integral part of Melee. Just because you can get KO'd by it doesn't mean it's unfair. There are many ways to work around someone whoring the items. Mune argues that Final Destination kind of ruins the game because part of what makes SSB:M so fun is using the items and environment to your advantage. How can you do that on a completely flat and boring level? |

I see your point. You're right, it IS a very integral of melee. But hand-to-hand combat is as well. You can't get away with JUST using the items and enviroment to your advantage. Me for example, I won't be beat with simple cleverness and projectiles. You'll have to use your pure skill as well.As long as my hand is on my controller, I'll chase you the whole 9 yards before you can even get a item. If you manage to get one, I'll simply roll to the other side of you and start jammering every good move I have until you eventually throw it and miss. I am good with items. I don't use them much because I feel they are worthless and a waste of time, unless your playing against someone REALLY good and competive with and without items. For some odd reason, there aren't many good people out there who can dish out serious damage without items. I rely on my skill to help me through a match. Not some crappy weapon/food that drops from the sky and disappears minutes later. I'll stick with my opinion on items. | |

| Ouranophobic | Final Destination Owns...It's the most fair leve. it's a plain flat arena. Here is a brief battle layout, from one of my best matches, against my friend. We were having a tourney, within 10 people, and seeing who the best was out of all of us. It came down to me and my best friend. And it is kind of a cheap win, but a wi is a win...This is why I don't like items as well.. My character - Dr.Mario. ( He was my old best character, before Marth ) His character - Fox. It was a 3 life, Ver Low item battle. We fought for a bit, I don't need to go into discription...Until we were both down to one life each. We racked up damage on each other, and I had about 200%, he had around 220%. A box appeared, and he went for it, like a squirrel that see's a apricorn. He jump kick it, and was blown away. ( Yes...What a nub. ) I ran under his flying body, and a capsule dropped right where the box was. ( Soon I know. It was random. ) I grabbed i, through it straight down and a ba-bomb popped out. ( Of course I'm thinking, HEHE, IT'S SO OVER. ) I picked it up, as he ran towards me, and through it. The dumbarse didn't jump or anything, but used smash attack, since he was in range. He hit the ba-bomb ( With me being literaly inches away from him ) And we both went flying two different sides of the arena. He died, about a split second before I did, and I won, it was hilarious. That's my favorite battle to tell the truth, I laughed so hard, when he started to yell, and say WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED, WHO DIED FIRST? good times... |
