I LOVE the Jak series, I just got over an addiction to them this summer, I played through the whole series I did, let me run you through it for my point of view (you know if anyone cares)

Jak and the Daxter the precursor legacy was awesome, because it was the first one, lol. But it the level designs were amazing, what with everything being connected together and all, the characters all had their charm, and I actually found collecting precursor orbs and power cells to be a lot of fun (except when I'm missing like, two orbs and have to go through the entire level to get them). The only downside was that it was too short and a bit on the easy side, though the final boss was great fun.

Jak II was definately weird for me. While the lighthearted aspect in Precursor is partly what made me fall in love with it, Jak II had its own charm. When I first played it, I was all escited that it was different and mature (I was 14 at the time), but I found the gameplay to be quite difficult and frustrating, and the dark Jak system just didn't work for me.
However, having played through it just recently, I really enjoyed. The story, which I was barely able to follow the first time through, made a lot more sense, and I realized that the gameplay was perfectly balanced, like a hybrid of actionéadventure and platforming. I still have trouble with the dark jak system in this one, though. (though the dark giant ability rocks!)

Jak 3 was my absolute favourite, the story is very thrilling and satisfying, the game is long and has plenty of different aspects to it (shooting, racing, pac-man, platforming, jetboarding, and and destroying giant metalheads!). With all the added guns and power-ups, it gave the game a lot more variety and style. Plus, they modified the dark/light Jak system and made it much more intuitive. I also prefered the bonus content in this one. Overall, I really enjoyed playing through Jak 3.

Jak X, contrary to what most people seem to believe, I actually liked it, the controls are tight, and the tracks are well-designed. The story was obviously a shameful excuse to ge them to race though. I really did enjoy this one though.

Overall, I love the Jak series mostly because I am a big platformer fan, but also because Naughty Dog pulls it off so well, the character designs, the voice acting, the music the platforming, the amazing environments, it's production values seem very high.

Here's a question though, who's your favourite character? I don't really have one, but I find Jak to be extremely cool (he's much cooler in Jak 3 in any other) and I find Brutter to be really funny. Actually, all the characters are likeable.

I have played 1, 2, and 3 as well as Daxter on the PSP. Never got X though, maybe someday. It's a great series. It is hard to pick an absolute favorite. The platforming was better in 1, but 2 and 3 had more compelling stories. I really loved the plot surprises at the end of number 3.

Omg, the Jak trilogy was AWESOME. But its nothing compared to Kingdom Hearts. I personally like 3, the ending was great, especially with the light and dark side to balance him out. Btw, did you know that Naughty Dog (the makers of Jak and Daxter) are coming out with a new game soon. I think its called Uncharted or something.

WHAT??!!?! No. Do not listen to this person. Jak X happens to be one of the best in the series. definitely. It also happened to be the first Jak game that I ever got, followed by II, Precuser Legacy, and III. Yes, X is awesome.

Well, all the games are great.

The Lost Frontier is the rumored next game in the Jak and Daxter series of video games.

On April 21, 2006, a trademark was registered with the USPTO for "JAK AND DAXTER: THE LOST FRONTIER". The description given for the use of this trademark was "computer game software and video game software" as well as "operating an online real-time game for others over global and local area computer networks".

When contacted by the online publication IGN about the game, Sony replied stating "As of right now, there is no official announcement regarding the title".[1] This statement can be taken both to mean that the title is in development and Sony wants to keep it under wraps, or that the title is just one of many SCEA is considering working on.

An interview with Naughty Dog Co-President Evan Wells perhaps squashed the idea that a Jak and Daxter game of any sort is currently in production by Naughty Dog. When asked why the game studio decided to create Uncharted instead of a next-gen Jak and Daxter game, Evan Wells replied saying:
“ "Of course [the idea of] doing another Jak and Daxter game is very exciting for us here at Naughty Dog still, but we wanted to do something fresh and brand new to keep our personal interests peaked. We've done four games in the Jak and Daxter universe in five or six years and we wanted to take a break from it and put a new franchise out there [which is] hopefully successful--and we want to do some sequels there too--but yeah, I think we'll probably go back to Jak and Daxter at one point."[2] ”

Breathing life back into The Lost Frontier rumors, EGM is reporting that, according to their industry spies, Naughty Dog will start work on a new Jak & Daxter game after work on Uncharted: Drake's Fortune wraps up.[3] If true, there is no indication that The Lost Frontier will be the given subtitle.

Jak PSP

Speculation surrounding Jak PSP began when the résumé of Robin Atkin Downes was found. In the résumé it was listed that in a game titled "Jak PSP," Downes had provided his voice for a character named Captain Phoenix [1]; a new character to the series if there is any basis to this claim.

Downes has had many jobs in the industry,[4] working for many reputable media companies and so it seems somewhat unlikely that he would fake a part of his resume.

Shortly after the story first broke on the Playstation Underground boards, Downes' résumé was revised[5] and all references to Jak PSP were removed. Also removed were references to a game called Big, the internal name of a game currently in production now being called Uncharted: Drake's Fortune. Jak PSP is also is listed in the portfolio of Mark Koerner.[6]

Further fueling the rumors is that the Naughty Dog website has, in the past, listed multiple requests for PSP programmers. [2]

Although anything known about Jak PSP at this point-in-time is based entirely on circumstantial evidence, and Naughty Dog has yet to confirm or deny anything regarding the title, it is possible to infer from the facts at hand that Jak PSP is, or at the very least was, in development.
I also read somewhere that someone rumored about the Lost frontier being for ps2/ps3.
