Default For Those Whose World Revolves Around Video Games...

Here's something for you.

Does God of War get you hard? Does World of Warcraft enthrall you? Does Call of Duty preoccupy your mind? Well now it can even further.
I don't know how many of you are aware of this, but there are a lot of comic books (see: NOT MANGA) based on video games being produced right now. The majority of which are published by DC's Wildstorm imprint. I figure this would be something of interest for those of you really into a particular video game series or story.

There are three ongoing (continually published) comic books based on licenced properties I can think of right now. They are Gears of War, World of Warcraft and Starcraft.

But there are also several miniseries going on. There are ones for Dante's Inferno, Modern Warfare 2, God of War and Resident Evil (you can find the information here: DC Solicitations for November, 2009 - Comic Book Resources as they're not up on the website). There's also an upcoming miniseries for Mass Effect in January from Dark Horse (Mass Effect #1 :: Profile :: Dark Horse Comics).

Of course, like all comic books, these will get collected into trade ("graphic novel") format, if that's your prefered method. Personally, I like the serialized nature of comic books. But I digress.

Gears of War Book One
Mirror's Edge
Resident Evil: Code Veronica Book One
Resident Evil: Code Veronica Book Two
Resident Evil: Code Veronica Book Three
Resident Evil: Code Veronica Book Four
Resident Evil: Fire and Ice
World of Warcraft Book One
World of Warcraft Book Two
World of Warcraft: Ashbringer

I've never read any of these, so I can't pass on my opinion but I do know some of the writers involved in these books are great. Walt Simonson is famous for his acclaimed run on Marvel's Thor and is the writer for the World of Warcraft comic. Simon Furman is essentially the guy who brought back Transformers (or kept it going) and he's writing Starcraft. Christos Gage is quickly becoming a hot writer and he's doing the Dante's Inferno mini series. The Gears of War comic writer, was the scriptwriter for Gears of War 2. The writer for the Mass Effect miniseries? Scriptwriter for Mass Effect 2. And the writer of the God of War miniseries is none other than industry big weight, Marv Wolfman who is famous for his New Teen Titans series.

You can pick any of these up from your local comic shop and if not there, then I'm sure you order some of the books from a Borders or Barnes and Noble. Hell, I've even heard that some gaming shops sell these comic books, which is what made Gears of War #1 the biggest selling title of 2008. I'm sure any of these places would be willing to order these books in for you if you ask.

I really hope some of you do go out and buy some of these books. They are worth your time and money. I know I'll be getting the Mass Effect one. And if none of these series appeal to you, I'll be more than happy to update this thread or keep you guys informed about future licenced titles.

I think I've seen one or two of these before. I never really got into them but I thought they were good.

I think the only ones I'd be remotely interested in are the RE comics >:
