| Member | Recently I hired the bonus disc for Fallout 3 and installed Anchorage and The Pitt, which, to my pleasure, were the only two add-ons I hadn't bought off Xbox Live previously. However, having set my xbox up, geared for a long night of wasteland wandering, my friend's missus stumbled into the desk my console was on, knocking the game out of the drive. Long story short, my Fallout disc's covered in hideous, deep scratches. However, I've finished the game a grand total of about 20 times on varying difficulties, and have experienced just about everything there is to experience within it apart from these two new addons, so, my question is this, is it worth forking out another $70 to replace my disc just to play Anchorage and The Pitt, or should I just wait until I get my new laptop in november, grab the PC version and download the construction kit? |

| Shh, it's just the wind... | Just a from now on thing, serach the forum before you make a thread. There's already one on Fallout 3. Ask your question there |

| Been there, destroyed that. | Wait wait wait, if the game had scratches in it, and you were able to still beat it... why buy more? |

| Member | Oh, I know. This just seemed more of a seperate thread issue as it wasn't so much discussing the game itself. The game was scratched after I'd finished it all those times, but prior to me playing the newly installed content. I'm not sure if the GOTY edition is out yet, but it's likely only going to come with one or two DLC, like Oblivion's Shivering Isles release. It's going to be a pain paying for content I already have on console. However, the redeeming feature of my second choice, waiting until november and getting the PC version, is the construction kit. I was bored one day and made, quite literally, an entire city in the Oblivion CS, complete with slums, rich districts, shops, NPC's with schedules, and a massive castle. The scope of what I'll be able to make with the F3CS is quite literally unlimited. |

| Zero | All 5 DLC packs are included in the GOTY edition. For the 360, at least. You can always try the "toothpaste" fix for your disc. How to Fix a Scratched CD (with video) - wikiHow |

Like, the fourth disc of Lost Odyssey, it came in a paper case, and most of the time it didn't work. Boiling the game basically fixed it. | |

| Member | Oh man that reminds me I gotta get my copy of lost oddsey back. Why did I lend it to someone when I was saved right before the final dungeon? Trust me, I know how to work with damaged discs. I've restored discs that were in worse condition then this one was to working order. Problem isn't the scratches themselves, but the location they're in, which corresponds to data within the game. My oblivion was more fucked up then my fallout, it works perfectly now unless I try to cast a Rally spell, which freezes the game. Fortunatly, you don't at any point actually need the Rally spell. Now fallout, the scratch is in the worst possible location. It's in the data for the pip-boy menu. Every time I open that menu, the game freezes. So I can't switch weapons, or outfits. Now that'd be fine if I wanted to play the whole game with a BB gun in my vault suit. Oh, and it freezes when I get hit with a melee attack outside of VATS. I've tried toothpaste, alcohol, even freezing the disc. It's been buffed once, and I'm pretty sure I've taken off so many layers trying to get it to work again that it's not going to. |
