Rep Power: 2 ![]() Level: EXP: | Inafune: Japanese industry "is finished" News | Eurogamer Not surprising, considering the Japanese have been playing safe for a while, even restricting themselves to mostly the handheld console. |

Rep Power: 19 ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Level: 41 EXP: | This was the overall reaction at TGS. The Japanese booths were few and far apart. It was loaded with Western games, and Japanese developers were confounded by the tight fluidity and varied gameplay of everything. Japanese game companies tend to stick to tradition. Resident Evil 5 had the same controls as Resident Evil 4, even though the industry had moved on. They fear evolving their game policies and trying new ideas in their established franchises because they fear losing money. That's why Super Mario is the same now as it always was. Not saying Western developers don't do that, but we have such a variety of game types and things that Japanese developers have never even tried. Sure Mario did platforming, but LittleBigPlanet made platforming. The only real deviation from the standard I've seen from Japanese companies is Okami and Katamari. Everything else has really been JRPGs since forever. Just IMO though. |

| Thus Spoke Meleagant | If each time something went bad for a while it meant said thing was finished, the world would have ceased to exist long ago. Just overreacting indeed. |

But I guess opinions are serious fucking business for you. Good job proving once again you only pop your lurking head out of nowhere to be an instigating prick, though. Capcom's Inafune Declares Japan Game Industry 'Finished' - Japan - Kotaku All the comments here are pretty much what got me thinking about it. | |
