A police spokesman in Jeddah said Mr Abdul Jawad's appearance had violated Saudi Arabia's Islamic sharia law code and was against Saudi customs.
He was detained at his apartment at the Red Sea port city before being fingerprinted and turned over to criminal investigators, according to media reports.

To me, this just goes to show that the problem in these middle eastern countries is not oppression from theocratic governments, it is the very mindset of the people. It's always presumed that they want to lead lifestyles similar to ours, when they so obviously don't. Most of their women are thrilled to be wearing beekeeper suits because it means Allah doesn't think they're shameless whores.

Well, it's hope that the people will at least attempt a peaceful demonstration againist this monarchy (propped up by the USA)

You might hope that they get a moderate king because it seems more practical to you, but it's a different country and people there have different values.
