The United States will most certainly not disintegrate, despite how knowledgeable this Russian professor may be.
Despite the hard economic times of the past year, things really aren't as bad as we make them seem, certainly not bad enough to start a civil war.

That guy should focus on his own country. Because I don't see any improvements on there end =/. Conditions are bad but not that bad. IF there was another war I see it as a war against race. Or political party. Then again all we need is another terrorist attack to bring us all together again.

This is a load of crap.

If America was going to have another Civil War it would have happened long before now.

People make the issues in the American Economy and Politics out to be recent problems. America has had issues like this for decades. The Economy cycles and Fluctuates. Right now it's just in a decline. Give it a few more years and it will rise back up again.

For as smart as this guy is, he sure says some pretty dumb stuff.

I'm going to disagree with most of you and say that I think Panarin is at least partially correct.

I don't necessarily agree with how he believes the country will disintegrate because the belief that every other country in the world is going to come in and start claiming our land while we're distracted is completely asinine, but I do believe and have believed for a long time that another civil war within the United States is very likely. Political animosity has not been this prominent since the election of Lincoln. I'm sure we've all heard President-elect Obama talk about how we are one nation, undivided by race, political preferences, sexuality, religion and so on. Quite frankly he is full of shit. There are two Americas, Liberal America and Conservative America (although you could just as easily divide it into the north and south) and they HATE each other. I don't want to see a war break out, but let's be blunt -- the stage is set for it.

Between economic and political tensions, social issues and other things we'll be facing in the next two years, I think a 50% chance of another civil war sounds pretty realistic.

Do I think America would go into a Civil War? Yes. It is a possibility. Do I think it will happen and because of what was said? No.

I won't deny the possibility of a Civil War. But I will say it wouldn't happen because of economy. Most of Americans are lazy bastards and wouldn't even do anything. I highly doubt we would wage war amongst ourselves because of the economy. Waging war because of politics I could see but I don't think it would happen. It takes something relatively large to have a Civil War take place. I highly doubt any part of America would even go to another country if things did go to hell. Especially Mexico. I highly doubt that would happen.

On another note. Does anyone else think it's funny that Hawaii would be going to Japan?

I believe America will suffer the same fate as ancient Rome. Yes war is always a possibility. But if we just learn from our ancestors mistakes we'll be okay. The only difference between this war and the last is all the diversity now. It'll be blacks vs. mexicans vs. russians vs. americans vs. asians and so on. It'll be a huge race war. I see it as only one racial slur away. Thats why people need to not be so fucking IGNORANT and accept the differences in others cultures.
