DO NOT FLAME! ALthough you might feel very strongly about rap or rock or your own type of music, do not flame other people. If a fight starts, ill ask for this topic to be closed.
Personally, I really, really, do not like rap. I think all the person is doing is speaking into a microphone. I love Rock. I think it requires much more talent.
Im not sure if the poll button worked so just write which type of music you like, ROCK OR RAP ONLY! you can also write undecided if you wish.

There are subgenres of rock that I dislike. I don't know the names, so I can't list them all... but I can tell you that I am in love with emo. Uhm, I really hate when heavy metal heads talk about rap only being about sex and drugs. As if ROCK never talks about sex and drugs. They do all the time. And killing people. Blood fetishes. Raping people. Suicide... I don't see how its any better.
But I can't deny... I LOVE dancing and that includes hip hop. When it comes to dancing, its not just the lyrics or talent that matters in the song. :3 Sometimes those beats just make me wanna get up!
I also like it whenever rock and rap are mixed together.

If the lyrics are emotional, understandable and so on, then that's already something I'd like. And it turns out that rock usually speaks more about the important things in life than rap does. Yes every rapper has a song that has deep lyrics, for example Kanye West has some good songs, but mostly they're just about pimpin and gangstas and crap.
So yeah, conclusion is that I like rock music better. I personally hate heavy metal though, and QJ, what kind of rock do you listen to then ?? Cause I don't have any rock CD's that contain lyrics about fetishes and rape o_O

I prefer rock over rap music, and type of rap music, but thats just becuase i love hearing the sound of a guiatr matched with brilliant lyrics. Rap has sort of become this decades mainstream. 80s was rock n roll, 90s was pop, and 2000s is rap. I just cant stand the lyrical content and music of most rap songs, it makes me cringe. I prefer rock, over everything. nirvana, evanescence, Crossfade, Marilyn Manson, 3 days grace, these are the type of music i love and listen to.

But anyway, the rock music I like the best, emo, does talk about blood and killing people. The rock genre I like 2nd best is alternative. I don't normally hear bad things in alternative rock songs. Alternative rock is just wonderful. Another genre of rock I listen to is rock/country. There is more. I just can't think of what they are called or anything.

| Some of the lyrics of the guys you like... and the sound of the music... makes ME cringe. Anyway, more accurately:
2000s - hmm
90s - hip hop, pop
80s - pop, grundge
70s - uhm... ya...
60s - Motown, whatever the beatles are
50s - rock N roll!
if rock n roll is even considered rock now and days, I have to say that... its good. I am much more partial to swing music.

(although LP is more new metal instead of rock)
And yeah alternative rock is good too, sometimes... The Hives are alternative rock too yes ? Good, then yeah I like alt. rock.

Now I'am a big fan of Rap and Rock and rock music is whati'am listening to now like Linkin park, crossfade,The used, and green day.Rock music is not all that pue itself way before rap became worldwide rock music rule and Rock music were the main ones talking about sex, drugs, and violence. So before you say Rap sucks listen to the deeper side of rap and you will understand what i'am talking about  Emzexion

I like rock because it has some good gutair rifts and can be really emtional. I like Rap as well cause some of the rappers rap about really deep stuff just lisen to some of Eminem's stuff and you'll know what i mean. I don't like some rappers or rock groups but aslong as it has a good beat and lyrics I'll be happy.

It all depends on what style you enjoy again. Rap music, dare i say it, is like poetry i huess, an idiot can't make it up. Music is an art form, no matter what shape it takes, I prefer rock some prefer rap, it makes no difference! and quitejaded, if you cant get the decades right, why contridict me?

I go to a publinc school with the majority of students who are rap fanatics (take to no offense but they are all hyspanic and black). But then there are the rock fanatics (same as above except mostly white people). I fall inbetween both.
