Well once we learn more, and considering it has been revealed that these next three titles pave the way to the true KH3, we're most likely to at least get a reference. They must have a pretty large role storyline wise, not only because they're new enemies [or old for that matter] but because they're in such a pivotal game, and seemingly disappear in time for KH1.

I'd expect it to be. These are new enemies after all. Perhaps they are like the Heartless in the sense that some are manufactured, and others "naturally" formed. We seem to have the usual "Shadow/Dusk" ones after all. The more evolved forms.. well who knows. But there definitely seems to be some sort of symbol o_o.

That's what I think. Maybe this is the 'natural ' heartless, Pureblood, and the ones we encountered in KH- is the manufactured ones, Emblem.

Agreed, or at least the original creature which led to the creation of Heartless. Heartless do seem to have replaced these creatures, after all.

But what I don't get is it was Ansem's research that caused all of this to happen, but this wayyyy before Ansem started it. So was there always evil? i don't think so: I think Kairi's Grandmother's story has an important part in this game.

I think from this we can deduct that the darkness was formed out of man's heart, and from the hearts now consumed came the Heartless, a by-product. There's a lot we could take from this actually, including the children rebuilding the world. Since Birth By Sleep is a prequel, a lot could be explained, perhaps even Kairi's Keyblade. But this is going off the topic of the actual insignia. If we use this story to explain the new emblem found upon the enemies, it could show darkness coming out of the heart, not light. They come from the heart, whereas Heartless come from where there is now void.

Yes, that's seems to be what the emblem means. As we know, a Heartless is just darkness SURROUNDING a heart. The emblem does look like the monster coming directly from the heart

I think that could be possible.. it would help if we could see the lower half though T_T. The emblem appears to have rays emitting from its sides on the new screens, whereas this is merely a heart insignia. Still, it would be good if there's a connection. Perhaps Terra's belt represents an untainted heart, whereas the enemies have darkness coming out of the heart.

EDIT: -Arcana-X-, I think we are! We seem to be on the same wavelength :D. What do you think about the Heartless being the future by-products of the "new" enemies? The two must be connected, I mean the Heartless do seem to be replacements of some sort.

Well, both Terra and Ven have that emblem, so it has to mean something.

The two do study under the same master after all, who has yet to be named. He did send them and Aqua after Master Xehanort, and the dark soldier. It would be interesting if we could find an emblem on MX or DS actually. It might help prove the theories. I'm going to stick with the fact that it resembles an untainted heart, but I could easily be wrong.

To me, that symbol that JakeH pointed out looks like the Organization symbol right-side up. You know that the original symbol is an 'upside-down' heart? And nice observation! I never knew that Terra AND Ven had the symbol.

Yeah, I do believe that this monster is like the 'prototype' to the heartless. Like you said, the heartless are the newer, improved product. And of course they're connected because majority of the people are saying that this is the heartless symbol, but techinically it is not. Also, I wonder about the term 'Heartless'. It came into use when 'Ansem' wrote these reports. But people are saying that MX could be Xehanort. So...

We've done a nifty little job already though! It is peculiar how two men share the same name, yet alternate appearances. Much like two enemies share similar forms and ideas, yet are two separate races. There must be a transition between the two, or so you'd expect. It would definitely be worth scouring the secret ending video Birth By Sleep to see what other symbols we could find, yet from all the screens we've had of MX and DS, there doesn't seem to be anything new. The fact that DS is a demon and cannot wield a Keyblade could be of importance though.. there is definitely a theme of pure darkness, and how it consumes the heart.
