Whether an experiment or a successful creation/replica I would lean more towards those than anything else. As many have discussed MX does stereotypically seem to be the scientist type.

But on topic, the DS coming out of MX could mean a number of things. It could foreshadow their fusion at the end of the game, it could mean that the DS is some kind of replica that was designed in MS's image, it could mean that MX has control over the DS' heart, and many other things. My explanation of choice is that MX is in control of his heart.

I personally think that the DS is the person Terra is referring to in the cutscene where he's asking "What have you done with his/her heart?" And I think that Ven and the DS could possibly be friends. Ven only makes the first move to fight when the DS is seen, and we see the DS fighting Ven, and if the DS is under MX's control, then the DS would have no problem fighting and hurting Ven, but maybe Ven lost because he didn't want to hurt his friend. Thats my thoughts on that subject. =]
