The video isn't subbed, but from my very limited knowledge of japanese, and with help from other people who have a better grasp of the language, apparently DiZ presents Riku with the cloak, saying it might protect him from Ansem's dark powers.

It seems Riku's pride didn't allow it for that instance, but I suppose practicality overcame that later.



Don't worry, they probably just haven't gotten around to translating the BBS interview yet.

I find that to be ironic. the thing that is supposed to protect him from ansem's darkness leads him further into it.

^he's not going to talk about it as it has the most importance. If he does talk about it, it'll be about the battle system, the challenges of design etc. he generally doesn't clarify plot until way after the game is released.

Now that i know this, alot of his design concepts, and lack thereof, become pretty clear. He was drunk when he thought of them, and when he sobered up he had a vague idea of what was supposed to happen.
