Default Nomura's character style

Has anyone noticed how Nomura's character design style isn't really changing much? I mean, is it just me, or does Terra look very much like Cloud from FF7AC, who looks a lot like the main character from FFXIIIVS? Does anyone think the same thing? I mean, where is Nomura getting his inspiration from these days? J-Rock clothing doesn't really have that style, so where do you think its coming from?

He means, I think, his characters all look surprisingly similar. Look at Neku and Sora, or Terra and Zack for example.

I like his new style a lot though. ^^;

But you're right...japanese artists tend to draw very generic looking characters... =\

as long as the artwork looks good, and the characters have unique personalities, then i don't mind if they have some similarities physically

What new style? It looks the same as always, granted the characters are older and the overall theme is progressively getting darker.

Anime. Simple as that. It's been that way since he started really. So it's nothing new...

Actaully I believe his drawing like this
to this shows his change over the course of six or seven years. He can draw much better than what we've seen from KH I know but he just doesn't when it comes to certain projects. Not that his art is anything that is awe inspiring to me it's just I say he has potential he just won't do anything about it.

BWHAHAHA! Sure they do...cause we know Nomura represents the way everyone in japan draws. Look up Akihiko Yoshida and Yoshitaka Amano and be amazed at the varied styles of S-E.

Yes everyone has noticed the similarities between his characters like Rikku and Yuffie or Tifa and Rinoa (at times to me). He just uses the same thing over and over again for certain characters for reason I do not know.

Artist's tend to tell the same story they just tell it different ways. It goes back to the idea in Story-telling that deep down, every single person only has truelly ONE story to tell. They'll tell it many different ways but it is essentially the same story. NOW that's obviously the extreme and i'm not even saying I think that's the case but.... that's the idea. Also if it ain't broke don't fix that seyatch!?!!!!!

edit: Oh and am I the only one who thinks Master Xehanort is very NON classic Nomura?

It's more like went from this: http://i23.tinypic.com/ej9c0m.jpg to this: http://i21.tinypic.com/zx5idg.jpg to this: http://i21.tinypic.com/14tyjiq.jpg to this: http://i20.tinypic.com/11kdxfb.jpg

Or he just changes his style according to the type of game. But I like his old stuff better. D:

Yes he does do it according to what game he is working on but his characters still end up looking like previously made characters form before IMHO.

Go to gametrailers.com and search 'final fantasy retrospective', look at Part V, which covers FFVII, AC and DoC. In there somewhere, they got Nomura to do Anime-Style chanracters because it worked best with the technolgy on the PS1, and what they wanted them to look like. Nomura then kept this style for the rest of his games, each of which has proven succesful
