Personally I think that the three knights and the old man are all the previous lives of Sora Riku etc ya know...
This would explain Xehanorts obsession with kingdom hearts if his previous life was involved with it..also the theory that Kairi is the reincarnation of Aqua would explain how she is judged worthy of using a keyblade.
This could also explain the new enemy type in kh3.

In number one we fight the hearts in number two the bodies and in number three the re-incarnated souls of the original keyblade war

^dont think taht they are all connected to uem, but maybe through other people they are. plus, i also knnow now, that ven and roxas are connected, and maybe even xehenort and terra, their hair looks ismilar, look at V.A.T.13's thread.

okay i've somthing just clicked in my head .. i probally seem insane but maybe sora is kingdomhearts... and the knights are trying to protect him.. sora=sky and land and sea can't reach sky.. but whos not to say that somthing else can't... its late and maybe im not thinking strait

I am officially resisting the urge to haul off on some of you people for still talking about this topic that has been clarified, disproved, and moved-on from multiple times already *grabs mouse* It's getting annoying to always see some random new thread popping up saying that the three 'Knights' (or whatever you call them) are Sora, Riku, and Kairi - one, they are not. Two, they obviously must have some connection to the three (no matter how insignificant) because this game is singularly overrepetative and Nomura can't seem to come up with anything less trivial than everyone being connected to a spikey haired boy with a big key. 'Nuff effing said.

I think it's already confirmed that they were related to Sora, Kairi , and Riku.

If you translate their names it's extremely obvious.
