Nobodies are the body + soul + mind, the shell of what's left. They are smarter than heartless, because they don't act upon impulse. They have a mind, they can think and plan.

I didn't do much research on what happens to a soul, but lets say a soul is ripped out from a nobody (the soul + mind or the soul + body or whatever combination) so it is now, a third counterpart of the full being. A living soul in physical form.

What if the Armored Knights are these encased souls in armor, because they only appear to have a body, but clearly don't or something?

I think perhaps, keyblades could have heart + body + mind + soul just like humans do. That would explain them picking out their master, and knowing who is who. That would explain why, since you need a heart to wield a keyblade, Roxas was wielding one. He was holding the shell of Sora's keyblade. The shell that departed from Sora when he lost his heart.

Perhaps these armored souls are wielding the souls (shells) of keyblades that are/once were?

And since these keyblades resemble ones our heroes wielded.
Perhaps they are in fact, the embodied souls of them. I don't know how the souls got ripped apart from the bodies, but perhaps, that's what would be explained in a sequel?

You forgot that we saw a screenshot of the armored knight's faceplate broken off, and we clearly saw a face.

Nobodies aren't "supposed to exist", but they are clearly standing right there.
Perhaps that's not their real body, or a shell of it, or just a resonance of the real body.

When the heart casts off the flesh, where does the body go?

Heart and soul are separate, and the spirit remains in the body. But can we assume that the leftover body and soul perish?

Certainly when the heart changes into a Heartless the body disappears.

However, that is only this world's story; in another world, mightn't they change forms like the Heartless and exist there?

If we take that to be the case, there must be a you other than yourself existing somewhere.

An existence neither of darkness nor of light.
An in-between existence.
Cast off by the heart, a mere shell, one who begrudges both the darkness and the light.

This mystery cannot be easily resolved.
The relationship between the heart and the flesh is a complex one.

But since we exist here, they cannot be termed as existent.
Therefore I shall call them...

There is a problem with that. Taking the soul from a nobody would cause the body to die because the body is supported by the soul and when it is taken away, the vessel can no longer support life. If the soul is directly taken from each subject then each subject dies, literally.

Those with strong hearts who casts off their body and soul to become supreme heartless does retain their minds. Xehanort is an example of that. When the heart is casted off from the flesh the soul usually sticks in the body and a new separate being is reborn in another world. So there are technically 2 minds that exists after such an event.

But those who does not give into the darkness recieves a heartless of little importance. Sora on the other demonstarted this fact. Even though he had a strong heart, he was not willing to accept his fate so he produced a lowly shadow, but since Sora's heart was indeed strong, he kept some sense of himself, although his mind was slowly leaving him which would had happen if Kairi did not restore him to his original form. But regardless, Sora lost half himself that day, but later got it back about 1 year later.

Gigantic heartless such as the Dark Thron or Darkside probably achieves their status when they give into the darkness, but since they does not have the strength of mind to recognize themselves, they obtain massive bodies of darkness that recreates themselves in monsters, but I'm not so sure on this one.

A soul itself could become a new being. But when the soul leaves the nobody, it fades into nothingness because the soul is the only thing that keeps their body in the living world. The soul bonds everything together. Possibly the new enemy are souls because they could exist on their own with out attachments, although the vessels they came from would had died.

A soul would not have a body because it has nothing to keep a phyiscal presense. Even Xehanort's heartless had no body. He relied on his powers to take over Riku which give himself a body. Xehanort's heartless was normally a mass of darkness.

So the heart and the soul are both considered minds of their own, just separated. The mind and soul together forms nothing unless the body is present.

This is for people who don't understand.

The substance theory: 1. The body is whole, but a heart can surivive on its own if it is casted off first. 2. If the soul leaves first, the heart can no longer support life so the vessel dies along with the heart. 3. If the body leaves somehow, the heart and the soul can't support a being so the body dies. Reason why is because the soul and the heart can't exist as a being because there is no bond, so the heart and the soul becomes no more.

But we have all the pieces together to solve a puzzle. If the heart leaves the body, a heartless is created and a nobody. But if the soul leaves the body, a nobody nor a heartless is created, but the soul lives on... See what I'm getting at?

Cool theory ,but unfortunatly a flawed one. Nobodies can't live if they have nothing to support life. If Nobodies only have a mind and a body, there is no way it can stay alive.
